New Naim Internet Radio - Feedback & Requests - Part 5

Thanks Steve for answer.

For sure I live in North of France, and response time is very fine for me

I regret not having saved as favorites my lacking WAV stations :frowning:

I understand this kind of complexity, as long as it does not come from business side but from individual …

Last suggestion :
You may consider to re-add “Added Stations” in your menu, same than we did with VTUNER.NAIM before.

Then, with this new reactivated module, I will be able to add these stations by entering the URL …

I always consider it’s a bit sad to loose a menu (whatever the reason) from an older version to a new version.

May be in the future, you will be able to reactivate “added station”.
It’s always a good thing to add “fully manually”, by entering an URL, instead of asking NAIM to add a radio we did not find.

But one more time, many thanks for all your quick and clear ansers ! I appreciated !

Yours,
Bertrand

Hi Steve,

Would it be possible to add the relatively new Dutch station ‘Cream’?

Thanks in advance,

Hans Nijs, Amsterdam

Hi,

Re: Cream.

Sure!

It was delayed as we were waiting for XPeri for their metadata feed, but as they seem to be taking their time it’s been added without the enhanced meta feed.

Steve

Great! Thank you!

Hans

Naim radio in flac format does not display metadata. Please fix.

HI,

RE: Naim Radio FLAC and metadata

This is has been a long term issue with the Naim Label channels. When we setup the system we were promised by the playout software provider that they would add support for Flac+meta in OGG container, but they never did. At some point we need to switch over to a different system, but in practice it’s quite low down on our list of priorities at the moment.

Steve

Thx. Has the new version of Radio already been implemented on Uniti Atom?

Yes.

Stephen

Yes, for a few months now…

Hi.

Would you be so kind as to add the following stations.
NME 1
NME 2
Loughborough University Students Union Radio.
StereoUnderground (Mixcloud)

Thank you.

Hi,

NME1/2 - that closed down years ago, but wqs replaced with The Music Machine 1/2. VTuner never updated their database so they have the The Music Machine claiming to be NME.

Loughborough Student Radio

Added:

StereoUnderground
Although we support Mixcloud live streams, this channel seems to be recorded sessions only, so can only be listened to via Mixcloud. If you can find a live stream let me know.

Thank you very much Steve.

Shoutout to whoever mentioned Soul Central Radio.

fsck-ing banging tunes on there! Very much enjoying it. I like the pirate radio station vibes, and it takes me back to all those trailblazing stations that often showed the big biys how to do it, playing the real popular stuff when the BBC’s and the like were outright discriminatory.

Even during my hardcore hip-hop days, my guilty pleasure was a lot of Soul, even going as far as buying some great imports from Don Christie’s and other stores in that Lundun, so this is like catnip for me.

Thanks again.

That would be great! Loosing Kurt’s Proxy is what keeps me away from performing the update.

Hello Volker.

I do agree with you.

If I had known I will loose my “Kurt’s non saved stations”, I won’t have updated my Iradio list because I mainly use Kurt’s …

I really hope Naim will re-add the “added station” section because I lack this menu …

I fully support Steve’s answer saying it’s not real pro customizing, some informations are missing, latence time may be high, but this “added station” should be used under user’s responsability.

I decide if I want to manually add a station and I agree I am responsible if not all metadatas are displayed, network cuts or whatever as soon as this radio is not from an “official list/server” …

I for sure understand in such situation I won’t be able to write any claim on this …

I also understand my gen1 ND5XS is not able to read standard Naim hires station, but that’s not a reason, in my humble opinion, not being able to hear anymore a working Hires station because specific customizing … and “added station” will solve this issue …

I do hope it will be taken into account.

Let’s wait

Hi @Bertrand

On Naim label stations i don’t have a problem hiding this in the system somewhere. It’s our content - no laws are being broken. We’ve turned a blind eye to various stuff like this going on for years on our channels,

On commercial stations who are licensed to play music to given countries / regions, and hence have to do all the reporting / payments to play then its a problem. Using a proxy like this bypasses various server side geo location licensing checks + it makes it look like only one user (ip) in Germany is listening multiple times. Understandably we can’t promote such things. Cool idea but best kept as a private thing!

Regarding Add Stations, we have that feature but only on products from 2017 onwards (newer platform) and we store the users information inside the product rather than in the cloud. As soon as we have user accounts then we must comply with all the data protection laws around the world which is a big job. VTuner was from a day where it didn’t consider any laws like that.

Hello Steve.

Thanks for clear explanations.
For sure I understand all the legacy / policy which I did not have in mind …

My Nd5XS is from 2013.
But I won’t buy a new one for that purpose

I only regret not having saved under a number (I have some available / empty in my 40 list) other Kurt’s stations I had through Added Stations.
But I have 5 of them, should be enough …

Thanks again, it has been a real pleasure to read you !

Bertrand

Hi @Bertrand

As a test we put this in North Korea:
