I liked the 4 best, the volume and mute are nice and easy to find. Presumably it was replaced when CD went out of fashion but who needs a remote for a streamer when there’s the app.
I’m always dropping the plastic remotes and that, presumably, is what killed my 4, it also makes the 5 try to come apart at the seems and need pressing together, the R com stays where I put it, even in my hand, presumably thanks to its weight.
I’ll vote for the 4 as well. I came with my 2011 282. I tried a 5 with my cd5si, but I just kept to the 4. Changing the batteries always catches me out though.
I really liked that one on the right, but I reckon the Narcom 5 is probably as good. Worst of all the Naim remotes IMO was the Flash, closely followed by that supplied with the ND555.
The Narcom 4 (or “stealth” as the style was called) was fine but the battery door was not the best. Louby decided to chew it off mine and I have never found it, so sadly I now have a Narcom 4 that’s unusable as the battery door also houses the contacts.
My least favourite was the late Narcom 3 - one that was a hasty substitute for the old-style Narcom 2/3 that suddenly ceased manufacture by the supplier.
This image posted up by @Dan_M shows the Narcom 5, late Narcom 3, and Narcom 2 side by side;
I agree the Narcom 4 battery door is a bit odd an example of something far more complicated/overworked as a solution for what it is but I just like its feel in the hand and use. The Narcom 5 is fine too but it does not feel so nice in the hand being more squared off.
Jesus….They can whistle. Should be gold plated at those quotes….
I always thought B&O made some of the nicest remotes…I remember the one I had for the last CRT TV I owned (think it was the mx4000 or something, the one that had the great motorised wall bracket)…Remote was really nice, glass screen that floated at the end….
Premium remote feel…Supplied standard…and not £500-800 to replace….
