New speaker search ATC in the house

The xover and amplication mount on the rear of the speaker in place of the passive plate.
All ATC. A simple swap over( for dealer)
Just connect balanced cable from pre…and power cord.

Or use whatever other amps you want, with external AXO! Swapping for the active version would likely be the most economic, and likely hard to beat in terms of sound quality, but possibly not sound preference, and might not satisfy your yearnings as a serial box swapper, for which A.N.Other amps and AXO might excel (maybe especially with the tweakability of a digital AXO if that appeals!)

BTW, could I please repeat my request for info regarding your engineering of the room to be acoustically dead? Or is it simply the acoustic treatment you showed in your thread I never see folk showing room treatment? ?

Then you will use the ATC amps on the back of the cabinet having so the active version right?.
There is also a special edition with better amps.

In fact albeit fantastic is the active version, the downsides is take It or leave it. Whenever i’ll go with 50s, i’ll stick with the passive, since i wanna keep my 552/500

Yes, class A is special …and hot, but there is little or no temperature difference whether silent or full volume. You just need to make sure you power them down when not in use (I use a timeswitch on mine, punching in the number of hours till I will have stopped playing music, which avoids massive electricity bills and excessive room temperature if I forget to turn off after use.

You can add the SE amps to the classic series, it’s not really advertised or pushed but is possible.

Isn’t the SE series just cosmetics on the cabinets? I haven’t seen ATC mention different amps, or have I missed sonething on their website?

I think they still refer to the amplifiers as ‘Anniversary’ editions. If you read the small print on the special editions pages you’ll see Fully Discrete mentioned. It seems like it’s ATC who are discrete with their info.

The Sugden Power Amp seems to bring the magic for you with ATC Speakers. Have you decided to keep the Sugden Power Amp?

just upgraded my kudos c2s to pmc prohecy 9… great. waiting to run in

That Sugden amp was the audio equivalent of a drug.I had to get it out of the house asap.
But now ive experienced it …i went cold turkey on music for a day to try and forget it.

I suspect that’s a major part of the extra cost, but I don’t think it’s all. When I had a chat with Ben Lilly of ATC at the NorthWest Audio Show, about the new standmount active SCM 20s he was demonstrating, he said that internally the Special Edition cabinets had been simplified for the new 20s. We didn’t discuss the electronics, so I can’t comment on the amps and crossovers, but the differences are not just cosmetic.
