New to Naim

Hi guys.

New Naim (to me) separates.

CD3 NAC 92 pre amp and NAP 90 power amp with my original B&W DM 305 speakers.

Apparently been in storage for 20 years according to previous custodian.

Done lots of reading which has lead me to be sure of one thing: there’s lots of acronyms abbreviations and numbers that I have to Google🤣.

So hello guys.

The nac and nap probably need servicing. The cd player - not sure if still possible at Naim HQ.
If you are in the UK then official servicing is easy.
Do you know how to connect them up?

The 4 pin one end and 5 pin other end cable could only go one way if that’s what you mean. Used input 2 on the back of the pre amp which corresponds with CD selector on the front. Correct?

Also best to use naim’s own speaker cable naca5.

Therein lies a problem. Original speaker cables which are of a given length from where I previously lived are now under laminate flooring and the only place for a decent “listening room” means I can’t move them.

Absolutely.

Servicing of these boxes, after 20 years of storage, is a priority.

Your nickname “Quad” was another great UK company before the world went mad.

So where would I get that done then?

If you’re in the UK you have a choice of the Naim factory (via your Naim dealer) or Class A who are Naim approved, and can work out less expensive than having them serviced by the factory.

I really would not worry about changing your speaker cables.

As Richard posted.

It comes from my motor vehicle background and when the web started catching on I had to decide on a “handle” and I then had an Alfa V6 which has four camshafts, as does my current/last ever car

Welcome and enjoy your new acquisitions - i’m sure you’ll be pleased with the musicality. Keep them powered up and the SQ should improve after a few days
