Hi all…Looking for some advice.
I have posted this in hifi corner but I think I need more specific streaming advice.
I’ve recently lost my CDS3 and currently running my 282-hicap/ 250 / SBL’s through my Innuos pulse mini.
Looking for a streaming set-up that gets to close the music reproduction of the CDS3 / XPS2.
Budget is £4k - £5k
Thanks in advance.
I would by a second hand Ndac, powered by your existing ps. But not sure the Innuos mini has Spdif. If not, you can put USB to Spdif concerter. Some have this combo here.
How are there so many people ‘new to streaming’ ?
It’s 2026

The mini isn’t well equipped on the output front.
I was thinking going NDX2 with the XPS2 - but unsure if this close to the CDS3?

Thanks for your critique…but it doesn’t help with my question.
My CDS3 / XPS2 has served me well for the last 15 yrs - so never really needed to look else where.
Any suggestions that might help?
Thanks

Yes.
If you’re new to streaming, pick up a WiiM Mini for £89 and a Tidal subscription for £10 a month to see how you like it.
Before you drop £4-5k on a streamer that you may or may not like.

With a good switch it will be on similar level. With 555 dr, better than CDS3.
I had cdx2/xps2, my Nds/555dr is well above. But you need quality ethernet cable and a good switch, like Cisco 2960 or Chord EE8 switch.

I would go for an NDX2 and see if you can get a 555PSDR for it. The latter will be more expensive.
However, to start with get the NDX2 and use an XPS2. This will sound in a similar league to the CDS3. It won’t be far off.
I have had the CDS3 with XPS2 and also had NDS and 555PS at the same time. I would sometimes put the 555PS on the CDS3 and it sounded alot better.
A used NDX2 can be found for £2500 to £3000 on eBay. Maybe get one of these and see how you get on.
Switches and ethernet cables can provide further improvements but are to be done latter on.

@osbornesfamily what Dan says. I had the NDX2 bare and then XPS and then 555PS which was mind boggling… for me the NDX2 and the 555PS streaming from Qobuz or Tidal was beyond what my CD could produce.
