New Uniti Nova, tips, tricks and suggestions?

Well, picked up the new Uniti Nova yesterday. Installed it, and it plays wonderfull so far. No drops in sound while streaming, so able to sink in the music again.

It still needs to break in, but allready tears in my eyes with Eva Cassidy last night. It is definitely not about the level of detail, or the staging. Pretty sure there are one box solutions out there that do a “better” job. But boy does this thing take you into the music, emotional display like no other brand i have ever heard.

Glad that i went for this one, allthough somehow, it does not recognise the SSD that works perfectly on my QB2… Any suggestions to as what i might be doing wrong?

I still have my Nova as a second system and I really rate it and get as much enjoyment from it as my main system. Although I had intended to sell it when I got the later system, I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.

I’m afraid I can’t offer any SSD suggestions.

If it’s like the Star you have to format it in the unit as a Music Store first to be recognised , then you can add music to it.

With my Star I’ve added through ripping discs but also from my Pc . Sometimes I have to edit using MP3 tag adding cover etc

I have the Nova since 2023 and have been thrilled. Indeed not the high end in detail and scale but for that i already have my main hifi set. Naim Nova is for the fun. Only 2 things I learned is that the ground switch in the back helped the initial hum i got. And that the NACa5 speaker cables strongly helped the sound experience…Even with the quite limited speakers i currently use with the set.

I also have a Uniti Nova I am using the Audioquest type 4 speaker cables. How do the Naca5 cables affect the sound, I’m curious as I’m having bass issues in my new room. I’m perplexed as I am hearing a loss of bass and I’m not sure if it’s the cables or something else. My Nova is paired with the Focal Aria 926’s

I have Focal Aria’s too. For me the nacA5 gave way more strict bass. Be award that audioquest has specific Naim cables since the regular cables can be damaging for the older naim classic equipment..

The Nova benefits greatly from a full fat Powerline - improvement in all areas. Buy s/h or ex-dem, there are plenty about and you can always sell it on if you’re not impressed (but I’m sure you will be!).

I don’t think a powerline will cure the problem op described.

the thing is, this SSD was allready formated in the Star, works briljant on the QB2 but just not on the Nova (yet)

Congrats to the Uniti Nova. It’s a awesome all in one player. I love my Nova :musical_notes:

indeed it does not, and i allready have that installed in a phase correct order. Currently breaking the nova in with V/d Hul Hybrid 352 cable, but have a NAC A5 pair used lying ready to be plugged in when it it fully stable. Right now i am playing via Wifi, and it allready sounds more spatious than the Star. Will eventually have to plug in the ethernet cable to determine if it indeed was a network issue on my end or not.

Still puzzled on the SSD though…:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Did you use the drive for the Star music folder? If so, I believe it doesn’t then work on other Naim streamers. Then you would need to reformat the drive and restore the music files from backup to get it working.

Weird thing is, it works perfectly fine on the QB2, but will reformat the drive tomorrow and see if that solves the issue

I have an SSD formatted in FAT32.
Works fine with my Nova.

well made a back-up, reformatted it at the pc (could not do that from the Nova as I could from the Star) and put everything back, and now it is reorganising the music files and getting coverarts and stuff. at least after 8 hours all the allbums and artists are shown. Might take a day or two to get it all covered i guess.

The nova is realy opening up by the way, switched back to a wired connection with the network, but no audible difference in my opinion.

But I have been late for bed for allready two nights in a row, so i guess it does wat it is supposed to do…
