New way to leverage Diretta protocol

Wonder why no one seems to make any cases for these supplies, strange? How does it compare with your iFi iPower Elite Power Supply?

I don’t know how they directly compare because the Ian Canada arrived late 2023 in reaction to all of the online raving, and is so complicated to connect that I just left it in place (Target) -where it sounds great.

Host initially had a 1.3A linear which was replaced by a (better) 2.5A SMPS, and then the 5A Elite (best). If you are willing to screw around with the DIY PurePi II -or equivalent- it’s substantially less $$ and probably comparable.

Just looking at the PurePi II again…it doesn’t mention how many watts are available to the RPi and its peripherals. I know it says you only need a 5v/2.5A power supply as input but presumably that is just to energise the ultracapacitors? Its those ultracapacitor that supply the RPi and peripherals?

Somebody could extrapolate how many amps those particular ultracapacitors generate, but not me. I just know that they do the job well, and haven’t triggered any warnings from the os.

Piero, the developer of Audiolinux, says “You can check if there are insufficient power or RT throttling messages typing in console: sudo dmesg”. He recommends 5A for RPi5, and 3A for RPi4 which I am using without any other peripherals making demands.

User PML over at Audiophile Style has said “I used Ian Canada Supercapacitor with my RPI5 and it was an huge improovment despite the fact it is 3A…”
