Hi all, getting back into Hi fi after many many years (60 this year). Ive been considering the Atom as an all in one amp, streamer that will be used for both music and general TV viewing. Now the Atom was the easy choice, where I am drawing a blank is speaker selection. I know people will say every ear is different etc but what im looking for is a short list to audition, bookshelf speakers that are good musically and able to handle night time tv dialogue. Nothing is of the table brand wise, so fire away with proven partnerships. Whether they be £1000 or £2500 
something that can be driven and sound impressive too.

Welcome to the forum. May I suggest you enter ‘speakers for atom’ in the forum search. This has been covered many, many times over the years. Decide whether you want floorstanders or standmounts and go from there.

Dali Menuet SE would be my choice. To my ears they beat everything I demoed in or around the £1500 mark. Blew the Neat Petites clean out of the water. I do favour detail which they have in spades.

Naim has always been a good match with Dynaudio for me. I have an Atom in my home office system, with an old pair of Dynaudio Audience 52SE speakers.
I’d bet the Atom would be a good match for the Dynaudio Emit or Evoke speakers, as long as you don’t expect to play them real loud. They are rather low sensitivity at 86db. My Audience 52SE are similar, and still sound quite good, but I’m not playing Mahler symphonies at concert volume with them (that’s for my main system to deal with).

Maybe a picture of your room or at least dimensions, how far will you sit away from speakers and do they need to be close to the back wall? This will be key info.
As I’m sure you know speakers can be very room dependant.
For example the Dali menuet se’s mentioned here were superb when I listening near field but when I was sitting 4.5m they fell apart sound wise…ended up moving them on.
The best advice is engage a good dealer and go through the demo process concluding with a home demo but to help you narrow it down give us a little more detail on your room.

Was looking at Dalis but didn’t know if the Rubikore 2 were overkill. Will put minuet on the list.

Interesting you say they fell apart at 4.5m. I sit about that far from them and have done since I’ve owned them and they certainly don’t fall apart, quite the opposite in fact. I listened to them in a larger space than they are in now and completely trounced the Neat Petites by some margin to my ears. Obviously it’s music dependant and the majority of my listening is acoustic, folk and country so nothing grand or anything requiring massive scale and bass but still they are no slouches. I do agree with having a proper demo though I demoed about 8 sets of speakers multiple times before landing on the Menuets.

I had the Dali’s with the Atom and demoed a lot of speakers using the Atom before deciding on them. I have moved on from the Atom now but still have the Dali’s. They are very impressive for their size. Definitely worth a demo. Good luck

take a look at AlChris Audio TX-1’s. Easy to drive, easy to position and incredibly well priced.
would work extremely well with an ATOM as well as give a wonderful NAIM presentation.

I use my Atom with PMC twenty5 21i and I’m very pleased with the match.
Indeed, just shows you room and positioning have an impact.
The best speakers are the ones that suit your room!

Absolutely.
The first time I heard an Atom was at an Acoustica show and it was playing into Dynaudio Emits (20s IIRC). Although the show included at least one Statement-based setup, I was not the only visitor who thought that little setup was one of the most enjoyable rooms in the show.

Hi @bericd, welcome to the forum….Atom is a nice way to return to the hobby. I am currently waiting to audition some Epos ES-7N for my Atom. In past I heard few Focal speakers with Atom and they are a safe choice. Another good option to consider for music and movie use would be KEF LS50 Meta. Lots of choice which is nice…as always best to audition if possible. All the best with the search.

My room is 7m x 4m but the listening zone is 3.5m x 4m (half the room). It’s a semi detached so volume can’t be pushed too high. So l will be sat 3.5 - 4m away. Carpeted floor and soft furnishings too. Im beginning to feel that extra push to a Nova may be needed, then that opens up another speaker conversation 
As I have neighbours that’s why im leaning to standpoints, rather than floor standers (to avoid the bass travelling through to next door via the floor etc.)
In my opinion, the ATOM best suits a sensitive speaker with a flat impedance, hence the AlChris suggestion. In addition they’re easily placed.
A pair of TX1 or TX5 on some SS5 or 6 would sound marvellous letting the wee ATOM really shine.
I once heard an ATOM into some LS50 and it wasn’t good. The comparable Dynaudio were far better matched..
Options are massive, but I stand by higher sensitivity and flat 8 ohm choices.
Or buy an ATOM HE and some appropriate active speakers……. Probably the path I’d take…

I would add Audio Physic and B&W. The AP are a very complimentary sound for Naim gear, and B&W are a certain type of sound that some really like and some really don’t. But the WAF is quite high in my house for speakers that look like that.
