Has anyone been able to compare the two? I’m thinking about either upgrading to Niagara 3000 or adding poweraray plug to my my S6. Dedicated mains are not possible.
If you consider a AQ Niagara 3000 → I would suggest to try a Chord M6.
At my home that is an astonishing different beast than S6 or P6.
Much better than a Shunyata Denali (6000?) I tried (-at least my home!)
Never tried the AQ, but I think it is worth to check out, too
I know that was not exactly your question (sorry)
Regards
I was a little sceptical about what a powerblock could do, so I thought I should try the M6, because if I couldn’t hear a difference with that, then why bother with an S6 or P6?
The M6 made a noticeable difference (lower noise floor and thus more detail). I stuck with the M6 and didn’t even try the S6 in the end, so don’t know how much better the M6 is?
I tried all 3 Chord models last year. I bought the biggest model, the M6.
The step from all other units I tried (Shunyata, Vibex, Chord) was huge.
As far as I am concerned: my mains are done!
(for now
Thanks for the comments.
The choices I’m considering are adding a poweraray to my s6 at or upgrading to Niagara 3000.
The cost of doing the first is about £500 vs £3k for the later one.
Going for M6 would cost about £2k and I don’t think the uplift between the two would be worth the outlay.
Part exchanging my S6 would be very difficult so I’m really only considering the options above.
This does not answer your question, but it might be helpful.
I currently own an Audioquest Niagara 5000 (with Audioquest Tornado High Current power cord).
I only use three of the plugs: NAP250 DR, SuperCap DR, XPS DR.
I thought about downsizing (the Niagara 5000 is more than I need), and I borrowed a Puritan Audio Labs PSM 156 from my dealer.
The Niagara 5000 is better in every way, but at twice the price it should be.
The Puritan PSM 156 is excellent, but the Niagara 5000 is “a little bit better.”
Cheers!
