Sand dunes and lagoon from Lencois Maranhenses, Brazil. Otherworldly and minimal. With a dead tree.

Thanks. It’s certainly changed a lot since I lived in Malaysia (1991-94).

Riding my bike through the backways and byways of rural East Sussex, I found myself at the foot of Hogg Hill Mill Recording Studios in Icklesham.

Just imagining Sir Paul looking out the window. Hold it boys I’m just going to give the thumbs up to that bloke on a bike.

Thank you Ian, much appreciated. It’s ironic really. The more I have got into photography and invested in decent gear, the less I include in my images. Such is life.

Getting the weather forecast more or less completely wrong has been a bit of a theme up here of late. Though usually reliable in a general sense, mountain weather forecasts are given with the proviso that they might be off by a few hours. Having said that, Monday was forecast to be excellent out west after a potentially cloudy, drizzly start. By the time I had driven the 2.5 hours to the start point, which included a ferry crossing, conditions were already superb, so I had high hopes for a good day.

Things stayed spot on as I approached the first of the day’s two summits, with views opening up nicely.

By the time I got to the first top, it was becoming clear that this would be another day where the forecast was wrong, as the sun faded and dark clouds approached.

Thirty minutes later, I was engulfed in thick cloud, visibility was down to around 50 metres, the wind was nearly blowing me over and the rain was torrential.

I always carry the necessary gear for such eventualities, but I was certainly glad when I reached lower ground for the very wet and windy walk out.

Cheers,

Ian
