Hi Tom,
The glen in the photo is in the Scottish Highlands, to the north of Inverness. Glen is a Scottish word for valley.
Cheers,
Ian

Ian, you and @ewemon seem to take photos in the same “neighbourhood”. Pure coincidence I’m sssshure!![]()
Bravo.
Thanks. It is very late in the day when the lazy river gets tired of its green and is willing to reflect the richer colours of the surroundings. There were three cranes busy foraging along the muddy banks and you needed patience to capture all the three with their heads up. Nevertheless, I prefer the image of a single bird which works better with the serene atmosphere.
Explanation is as nice as your photo.
Very good!
A timely reminder that during my lifetime (even though I was vey young!) a) this was a normal everyday occurrence and b) it took place in colour, not black and white!
It had just completed the last of the day’s excursions across the north york moors and, having unhitched the carriages, was pulling away at little over walking pace.. the low light/long exposure gave it a more pronounced speed blur than expected and warranted ![]()
Broughty Ferry’s not what it was!

I believe the Spanish air force is still flying AV-8B II+ aircraft.
We actually live in the same town!
Autumn in the Findhorn Valley, NE Scotland. Taken yesterday, before the heavy rain arrived.

Small world and you’re both fortunate to live in a place with such a wonderful landscape around you.

Very nice @IanF - we actually have the same wonderful colors in Switzerland - and the fine weather will stay for some days over the weekend - time to enjoy…..
