I keep reading that there should be a Bluetooth option in input settings in the Naim app but i do not have one. I wish to connect my BBC Sounds on my iPad to my 172 XS streamer. Does anyone know where its gone and if this is the best way to do it. Ive tried airplay but i cant see the 172 XS appear as an option. Is it me or is there a secret Naim app out there?
Do you have Bluetooth fitted on your 172 ? IIRC, Bluetooth was fitted to later models, so if your 172 is an early model it may not have this. Is there a Bluetooth antenna socket on the rear panel ?
Thanks James. It would seem i just have input, headphones and USB on the front panel. As per photo. On the back there is only an aerial option.
Does that exclude my ability to use airplay or any other way to achieve my aim?
If it’s only one antenna socket on the back panel then it doesn’t sound like you have the Bluetooth option.
The Bluetooth antenna fits here (blue circle)
I don’t think the early streamers supported airplay, unless that came with a later software update.
Yes mine says aerial but not bluetooth. Can you play from ipad to it by usb? Will the lightning charger socket on ipad act as an output to usb?
Check out the Eve Play, it would connect to a spare input and allow you to use Airplay without tethering your iPad
The USB input officially supports playback from iOS devices, so this is your option for playing from an app on your phone.
This ‘Works with iPhone’ certification was developed way back when iTunes downloads were all the rage, and was primarily intended for use with iOS apps. As third party apps started to appear they sometimes didn’t work consistently via USB, but can usually be coaxed into playing.
