No Supernait on the horizon, what’s the alternatives?

Doubt I could audition though. And not cheap enough to gamble…..

Supernait 3 still on auction
You wanted a mint one fresh from the dealer first choice.
Snooze you loose.

I wonder if you’ve considered the Chord Ultima Integrated? It has very good reviews. I am thinking of trialling one soon.

A good friend of mine just got one of these after auditioning a few others including a Sugden but they stopped the finish he wanted.
:scream:
He is super happy with the Chord Ultima. :+1:

I’ve had an audition and it was very good, it is 8k, so should be.

It was up against a SN1, maybe a 2 but not a 3, which sounded terrible in comparison and not my experience of my SN 3.

Was into the latest Neat momentum floorstanders, which are 8k a pair.

Came away with the feeling that it was a poorly matched playing field with the Chord only sounding as cohesive as anything already have.

Not a comment of what it may be capable of, just the demo environment.

You have to listen to it, I would never buy an amp like that without a proper test as we all have our preferences. However if you are buying the SN3 on auction, the problem is simply solved.

Also well regarded, the CODA CSiB. I have one on the way and currently own an SN3 so should be able to compare in a week or so.

I might home audition my dealer’s Boulder 866 integrated, but it is rather more expensive than any Supernait (~US $18k).

For me I just want to hear it, because I might consider replacing my 252/300 with a Boulder 1100 series system in the future. I already have a Boulder 1108 phono-stage.

Esoteric F-01

I think my aim is to see what’s available in the same financial arena/void where the Supernait existed…. Circa £3000-£5000 give or take, hence my original listing…

HEGEL H150 and H400 demoed recently. They were smooth, but I’d have reservations over their long term reliability, serviceability and obsolescence compared to an Exposure , REGA or Naim…

Worth looking into Mark Levinson No. 5802/5805 with some good deals going on right now.
ML seems to have gone off the radar since the consumer confusion of Harman International and Samsung takeovers.

Should have good dealer coverage.
Although these mid range mega integrateds start to get big and heavy. Which could be a problem long term later for service or any problems.

My local Naim dealer in Ashford Kent has a brand new SN3 listed for £2895

I would strongly suggest not going any where near one of those. There are numerous reports of problems with firmware along with other issues. Just Google it. There is a reason why these are being sold off so cheaply. On top of that they are very large & heavy.

hmmm…I had almost forgotten NVA……

A few more suggestions - some possibly slightly off the radar:

Trilogy 921

PMC Cor

Lejonklou Boazu 2

Moor Amps Angel-4i

Temple Audio Bantam One

Norma Audio Revo IPA 80 or IPA 140.

Audio Analogue AACento integrated

Audio Analogue Puccini Anniversary integrated

Sim Audio Moon - they offer several Integrated Amplifiers that could fit the bill.

All are offered by well established companies that manufacture in the UK, continental Europe or Canada (Sim Audio).

Is your shortlist based on what your dealer/s have available?

People often build long lists and have another 50 suggestions thrown at them. Then rock up to their dealer and are given about three options or less in their price bracket.

Unless you are will to do a lot of driving or take a punt on an amp unheard, your dealer will already have a simple option for you.

In general, the lack of a SN3 level amp isn’t a problem. There are loads on the market and some are outstanding. The danger of course is you form brand loyalty elsewhere and never look back.
