Nordost

It’s so fascinating to experience the differences among Nordost cables, it’s amazing. I’ve been a Nordost user for only 6 years, so I have a long way to go. I bought my first OC Naim gear around 4 years ago. Of course I enjoy higher series more, they are truly transformative (almost like changing the system as you said) but I can easily recomment Blue Heaven cables as well. Each series is perfect for different products at different price points.

Do you think the higher you go up the ladder, the leaner the bass gets? Sometimes I wonder if that’s the character of the cable or the music is supposed to be like that, I still haven’t figured that out.

I’d love to test more products from Nordost, but it’s not always easy to find them.

Has anybody here tried Nordost ethernet cables?

@Stevew Heimdall 2 is way more refined than Red Dawns, so I get your point and I understand about price, one needs to put a limit.
As you already had a proper Hi-Fi rack, I didn’t expect so much of an improvement thanks to the Sort Kones, that’s very interesting.

I had the heindall 2 . It has the heindall 2 character , stable and down to earth cable

Sort kones is magic . Try them . Play around and get the position and sound you like most to your taste. A good isolator . But varies on the users preference

Not so … its due to the NC tends to be slightly leaner .

When transparency, highly detail, highly clean sound involved as the character/ signature sound, low will be compromised , depends on how much it’s been compromised . The first reference SPM, it’s was the cleanest cable at that time I had listened to , w a few cables dealers who agreed , compared to other top tier makes , but it’s leaner at the bottom. But I still owned them . The low are not a big discount to the sound anyway . Can be tweaked. Hence I am looking at Ansuz to get the low .

There’s no dealer over your side ?

Yup… it’s costly

Over at my side , there’s this nordost customer. His gears cost around 13 k but he’s using odin2 and Valhalla 2 full loom on them . I was in disbelief but the dealer showed me the photos .. I was like… OMG :frowning_face_with_open_mouth:

No doubt a low level leif “loom” would still do wonders for a super Hi End 100k+ system. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

As far as I’m aware Nordost doesn’t have a great dealer network.

Your kind of left in a custom order and forget situation.

Say I wanted to demo the difference between a 2 metre Frey power cable to a 1 metre one, there would be zero support.

I am not so keen on Nordost IC’s or speaker cables, admittedly it was in the 00’s I last sampled them.

But I am a big fan of Nordost power cables. The Heimdall 2 are very good and work brilliantly with Naim. I also highly recommend their power distributors, the Qbase Mk2 and mk3. No filters or caps to slow down transients, these power strips suit Naim gear.

The Qsine and Qwave are great, I prefer the subtle effect of the cheaper Qsine.
If you have the money, the QKore 1 grounding box, connected to the Qbase power strip, is the final touch.

Anyone compared Ansuz to Nordost? I believe they share similarities in cable design and to some extent performance. Lars kristensen worked for Nordost as world wide sales manager from 1992-2012 and later started Raidho and after that Audio Group Denmark (Ansuz, Aavik, Borresen). It’s interesting that Flemming Rasmussen, founder & former owner of Gryphon recently joined AGD.

In around 2003-05 time period, Michael Børresen told Lars Kristensen (Lars was the worldwide sales manager at Nordost from 1992 to 2012) about his ideas of an innovative ribbon tweeter design, which Lars found highly interesting. Shortly after, Michael had manufactured a prototype and invited Lars for an auditioning. As a result, they jointly established Raidho, their own loudspeaker company. Michael & Lars left Raidho in 2017 (heard it was nasty) to concentrate on ANSUZ cables & AAVIK (launched 2015) & in 2018 Michael launched Børresen Acoustics concentrating on new speaker design.

In 2019, Audio Group Denmark moved into their new HQ located in Aalborg for production, R&D, test labs & admin.

End of 2020 Audio Group Denmark established umbrella company comprising ANSUZ, AAVIK & Borresen Acoustics and in May 2021, Flemming Rasmussen, founder & former owner of Gryphon became the newest member of Audio Group Denmark’s design and development team.

Yup me … I intend to get it but will need to see which one to go for the the low and balance up my nordost

I believe Ansuz has bit more organic sound where Nordost is bit more neutral. That’s what many says  There’s a review where the guy compares Ansuz C2 to Valhalla 2 and Odin. And he prefer C2 :man_shrugging: I like my recently purchased Ansuz C2 SignalZ a little too much I’m afraid… Bloody expensive cables. But very very good.

Yup more ansuz for you to come

Yes I believe mixing those brands can work very well :+1: More users here should try more brands and not only look at naim/chord cables IMO. They are missing out good stuff

Yup… in fact there are more and more stuffs out there that can go well w naim. It’s a matter of mixing and matching. Both nordost and ansuz dealers told me these 2 brands mix very well . Compliment each other , therefore I am looking closely at them , how and where to mix

Hello… just to be clear , I am not using the sort Kones under any equipment…they are under the power block , which sits on a marble slab on the floor not on the rack.
