Hi, I have a question maybe others anlso interested; I moved my system to a better sounding location and I have a red dawn 9+9 mt long to give away.
Obviously they are quite difficult to sell and I was wondering to cut them in two 4.5 mt sets.
But the problem is terminations… or I may try to sell them cutted without bananas on one side… but before to cut… any suggestion?

Hi .. you need someone with experience to terminate the flatlines into the banana plugs. As you know the cables are flatlines. I would -1) trade up for your new cables, 2) be patient to see any buyers in the future( 9 m is indeed long) , 3) if you do have nordost AD in your area, get their help to do the termination/alternatives for you, ofcos that comes w some fee if they can do termination/sent back to nordost .
I won’t cut the cables to get the 4.5 m length.

Trade up will be the best option if the dealers wants to sell their products to you.. 
Tried… I already took 2mt Frey, enough for the new setup. Too little difference in price giving them back.
I’ll try to put them on sale also in other sites but my local one…

You’ll destroy any value they might have by cutting and reteminating. Most buyers would be looking for factory terminated, unless at the low cost entry level Nordost ranges (which Red Dawn isn’t). The original Red Dawn is now decades old and isn’t popular. Rev 2 slightly better. You need to be at the Leif version for decent values on the used market.
@edob65 ……. What amp are you using the 2m Frey with?

Best shot for selling the shorter versions is to have the cable cut and reterminate at Nordost with a written certificate from them. But this may not be financially meaningful.

@edob65 ….. Frey is constructed to give low inductance and Nordost (a USA cmpy) publish the Frey at 0.135uH per foot, that is equal to 0.443uH per metre (as measured by the rest of the world)
Naim classic power amps such as 300DR require an output stage inductance load for amp stability. To achieve this they recommend a minimum of 3.5 metres using their NACA5 cable that with 1uH/m will give 3.5uH.
Your Frey with 2m length has 0.886uH and that is not good for a 300DR.
I would be concerned with the amp stability and possible overheating.
Thank you Mike, I will talk to my vendor about this… what does it means instability? Do you think this is dangerous for the amplifier? I rarely listen louder than 1/4 volume (9 hour on the knob). It drives the harbeth Compact 7ES-3 XD
@edob65 ….. Naim power amp output stage instability is high-frequency oscillation that can result in overheating and shutdown.
Using a high’ish inductance speaker cable (ideally greater than 3.5uH) is important not only for the best sound, but also to prevent the possibility of this output stage oscillation.
Although having the right spec speaker cable is not so critical on many Naim amps it is most important for the high end amps with regulated power supplies such as you have with your NAP 300 DR

I noticed you had? a Silent Angel Bonn NX but reverted back to the Bonn N8. May I ask what you didn’t like about the NX?

At £7k+, one of these Valhalla 2 cords (2m) is double the cost of the costliest mains power cable which I own. 
I now have a mixture of Shunyata, Acrolink Mexcel, Furutech and Wireworld mains power cables. If I ever purchase another new mains power cable, I’m not sure if I want to add another different one (Nordost) which will completely defeat the purpose or advantages of a ‘full loom’. The Frey 2 still remains in the shortlist. Time will tell.
