What benefits are the new cables bringing to the TV and Sky box?
It’s a great cable. Have fun with it. Curious how it works with Marantz
I’m excited and looking forward to listening to the Marantz SA10 maxed out!
It sounds very good already. But what will the Tyr 2 bring to the party?
The Frey 2 adds more detail, widens the soundstage and is a significant improvement on the Atlas cables before it, which were excellent for £40.
For me this is a fun ride and an experiment!
I would appreciate if you could post impressions on Frey 2 vs Tyr 2 in due time. The Frey/Tyr 2 remains on my radar if I require another high quality mains power cable. The Tyr 2 would be at the top of my budget as the next level up is too much money.
I heard the tyr2 with the Luxman amp you had , it makes tye luxman speed up, which is what the luxman needs. Liam one to try out. A more balance sound and your luxman sings better due to the speed the try gives . Another level your luxman goes. Any cable with good speed is what the luxman need.
And as for gryphon , needless to say, speed gives it more fun .
The Shunyata Alpha X NR brought the best out of the Luxman amp but made little impact to the Gryphon amp, as a matter of fact I think it made the Gryphon sound slightly worse likely due to the current-limiting NR properties.
Nordost Tyr 2, it’s not cheap and will be in the shortlist.
Enjoy the system and the music !! That’s all it matters friend ![]()
Quite a bit, I’d say. My partner likes watching a soap that’s not on an HD channel. On our big screen I can only notice a little lack of definition.
On a really great broadcast (we don’t have the uhd subscription) it pops with a consistent audio quality to my main source.
Streaming tunes from the sky Spotify app sounds pretty decent tbh.
Unfortunately Nordost presently do not offer optical cables, so I have a AudioQuest carbon job for audio - which is most probably my weakest link. ![]()
I’m sorry Dan - my comment was actually a joke that related to another thread (thought you might have seen it). Anyway, hope it all exceeds your expectations.
Believe me , they will do ( the optic cable ) Let’s wait for one to come out
I am emailing them to take serious consideration of coming out with a nordost router with all the explanations of the streaming line products they have and why need to have one
And here was I under the impression that electricity moves at the speed of light ![]()
Through engineering, technology, R&D , it can be achieved.
Nordost , had achieved that at 85-90% the speed of light in their cable , through tech and materials .
You can google to read on this.
For eg, these few makes engineered their cables to as close as to the speed of light .
Valhalla 2 power cord can go as high as 91 % speed of light , and the SC as high as 97%
There is a very good explanation here why conductor material is less relevant for the speed of electricity than the isolation of the wire. The isolation has an influence on the propagation of electromagnetic waves that influence electrons along the wire.
Chiming in here on the general topic.. I had a couple Red Dawn xlr interconnects laying around and last night replaced the stock cables between my 222 and NC 250 - it resulted in a noticeable improvement of sound stage width and overall clarity . Makes me wonder if I should consider an upgrade to my A5 speaker cables …
Hi there. Welcome to naim forum. The red dawns are series ? 1,2or 3? You should maybe follow the pattern- power cord , interconnects , speaker cable. May I ask, what power cord you using now? Naim stock or power line ? Definitely upgrading the speaker cable will give an obvious uplift to your naim system . And synergy flow w the red dawns .
Wow you have the DD momentum!! What a beast !!! ![]()
Oh yes. I must have deleted whilst doing a spell check.
I’ve been a Nordost fan boy for ages.
I ran the original Shiva and Vishnu power cables along with blue Heaven mk2 speaker cables with the older Heimdall rca cables. The ones with the WBT connections. Those were fabulous.
Thank you for the warm welcome! I really appreciate it!
I purchased the interconnects ca 6-7 years ago, pre-owned, best case they are series 2. I currently have stock cables everywhere else. Interestingly my Naim dealer also spoke highly of the synergy between Nordost and Naim, even though they are not a Nordost dealer AFAICT. I have some experience with Transparent Audio cables in a different system, using Reference series Transparent cables on the Momentum + dcs system, mainly due to dealer availability and ability to audition them directly, but am leery about adding the Transparent “Network Boxes” into the Naim signal flow.
Open to suggestions as to where to go next from here .
FWIW the Momentum is incredible, but as a recent newcomer to Naim , I do have to admit the NC series system really punches above its price range and as an EDM produce I love the way Naim handles transients!
A joke with @70sPete ? Profound improvement on CD transport!

Gotcha! For me the Marantz project is a bit of fun. I am seeing what I can eek out of the Marantz. I am loathe to change the cabling with the Naim stuff as I believe it is perfectly balanced as it is!
It would be the Frey 2 interconnects with the Tyr2 mains cable not versus!
