Thanks so much for the suggestions related to hiking up Snowden. It was a great idea that I look into it and so I did some more research online. In fine weather, the “easier” path would be doable albeit challenging for me. However, in poor weather, (which could develop en-route) it would be marginal for me given my current level of fitness. Perhaps next time!

Loved that railway until I looked down and had a strong sense it was defying gravity at various points 
It’s a bit like the Big One at Blackpool as you go over the top. You think you have departed the rails
