i did scans in both rooms 1) router and core 2) 222-250
I will make some corrections to my earlier posts after further investigation.
I’ve deleted them as I cannot now substantiate them.
Prior to having my “relay” problem resolved, I could not wake my NSC 222 via the app if it was in standby, only by using the remote.
I also found that disabling the Server mode made the unit invisible on the network.
Now, with the “relay” problem resolved, I find that I can wake up the NSC 222 in the App and see it on the network regardless of the Server setting.
My dealer had advised me that network issues could have caused the “relay” problem but couldn’t elaborate.
My network has not changed.
I’ve 40 years in IT and have worked as a White Hat hacker.
Whatever has changed, it’s all working for the better now.
So, rscm, you may not have been alone in your problems.
This is laughable…
I also have worked in IT industry, around 30 years.
Many moons ago as a software developer.
Then as business analyst and project manager, i participated in the development of several information systems.
When needed i also participated in the testing of the systems. This included not only the testing but also defining test cases and regression tests for others to test.
That’s why i believe naim software “could be better”.
BUT, my experience with naim support has been excellent, even if they don’t agree with my opinion on naim software ![]()
I am not an IT guy at all, but have some scientific intuitions sometimes, or just intuition.
The latest tells me that a network problem that damages the streamer relays is a nonsense.
But I let for example @Simon-in-Suffolk give his opinion on it.
It really should be as simple as hardwire the NSC 222 or give it the wireless password to get the app to see it - not a tricky task for most people today.
I’ve had other New Classic items returned that had stopped working, verified by the dealer when he had it in the demo room in discussion with a Naim engineer on the phone.
It was sent away for repair and again “No Fault Found” but magically it had started to work as it should in my system.
One thing is quite sure: Naim streamers have versatile character towards network.
Lots of people don’t understand, saying for example “ my Sonos, my tv… work perfectly , why not my Naim streamer “.
Indeed network ‘issues’ won’t affect relays… they are not directly connected.
Thanks for gifting that one. I’m never going to be difficult again, I’ve always been very versatile though ![]()

Well indeed, typically Naim streamers just work… no fuss. Sometimes there are issues with the Android or Apple app’s.. but that is often down to the device or person’s non standard WiFi setup, perhaps by mis configuring home network products .. ie I can’t see my streamer on my app etc… and reading this forum some people conflate their app issues with streamer. issues and this can happen for all products and all makes including Sonos and home automation products.
Well, in my case, my NSC 222 has the ‘relay’ problem, constantly not pairing with the blue tooth remote, not working with the NVC TT, not working with the PBX 300 and not being visible by the app when in standby.
After multiple returns it’s all working now without any network changes.
My dealer confirmed some issues with the equipment, with a Naim tech, before they were returned.
The only problem that was acknowledged was a problem with the PBX 300.
Yep sounds like you might have had an issue or fault with your product not working correctly … glad it’s mended. At least you can see it was nothing to do with the ‘network’
I only had the "relay’ problem original and the NSC 222 not being visible in standby.
It was sent back to get that fixed, which they didn’t, and the the other problems happened within a week of it’s return.
yeah it sounds like the PSU relay wasnt working that powers up key elements that are needed in standby -such as connecting to the network, responding to remote control etc and keeping certain sensitive circuits powered up.
People need reasons not to upgrade, naim user here for almost 18 years, had issue once and was resolved swiftly by naim.
Totally understand, I wanted to upgrade for years but found the OC boxes to be not worthwhile. The NC kit has renewed my interest in Naim. I did have a fault with the 250NC but FN America replaced my unit. The support folks were pretty easy to deal with to. Didn’t have any issues setting up. The 222 was plug and play for me, no hiccups. I did have to acquire the legacy burndies for the 555 which are priced punitively imo but that’s neither hear nor there for me now.
I’ve used Naim since olive series, had some issues that made me ditch them but like the NC series despite my issues.
