Hello community
I would like to get your advice.
I plan to purchase NSC222 and connect it to my SuperNait 3 that will function as power amplifier. Is it a good combination or should I purchase the new NAP 250 and sell my Supernait 3?
What would be the difference in SQ between the 2 combinations?
The NC250 is a significantly better power amp than that in the Supernait. It comes with the leads you need to connect to your 222, whereas if you use the SN you’ll need to buy a set of special cables. The 250 will go into standby with the 222, whereas the SN won’t. The 250 matches visually while the SN doesn’t. There is no ‘should’ about it, but if you can afford the new 250 it makes perfect sense to buy it.
I traded in my supernait 3 and nd5xs2 for NC 222/250. I liked the idea of sticking to a simple two box system while also getting a separate pre/power. It sounds a lot better to me, but it is a different presentation to the supernait. I would recommend hearing the NC stuff first if you can.
The volume control on the 222 performs and sounds so much better at low volume than the pot on the supernait. The difference this makes if you have neighbours is significant! I think the headphone output is better too. I do get more transformer hum on NC250 in my house than I did with the supernait (I have hear the 250 on and near silent at the dealer, so my mains must be the issue)
That’s a good decision I’m sure. As to the switching question I’ve no idea.
