NSC222 controlling a CD5Si

I want to get a NSC222 to drive some ATC active speakers - the sound was amazing.
However I also want to play CDs - I know, I own about 700 or so.

The question arises will a NSC222 control a CD5Si - to play or stop?
I appreciate that they are different generation of product, but Naim has yet to do a new CD player and I suspect, sadly, that are not planning to.

So my aspiration is a 2box system DAC/streamer with a CD player.

Any and all advice listened to

thank you

Aside from its (infrared) remote I do not believe the CD5si offers any kind of system automation.

So no, the 222 cannot control the CD5si unfortunately.

thank you - I did wonder if there was a remote link or indeed if anyone else had addressed the issue to end up with a single unified remote and 2 generations of Naim kit on the same stand.

thanks again

I had a 272, and through system automation and the Naïm app, it could control my CD5 XS. I moved on to the 222, and can confirm there is no longer any automation between both boxes.

Unless you intend to stream music from one of the streaming services, then why buy a streamer?
Otherwise if you do intend to stream from on-line, then best to buy a cheap disc drive, link to a computer and rip once. Copy the files to usb drive and stream from that. CDs boxed away.

This is really a question for a good dealer to talk through options.

Thank you for your reply, we have two different use cases, my partner streams lots of music from young bands - I tend to play CDs - and phono.
I really want something that does both/ all three. Linn do a great box, phono input and digital but nothing native, same for Naim except uniti -
A great two or three box solution would be perfect

Why can’t you just plug the CD player into the line in on the 222?

I could, in fact it was auditioned with a cyrus transport. I am just lazy and would like one remote.

I think the conclusion is that it is not possible unless Naim are going to release a new CDp or CDt to match the 2XX series

A Lindemann Music Book Source II with the built in CD would offer this functionality.

Thank you, I’ll have a look at that as an option.
Although Naim 222 sounded amazing.

Maybe I need to get up and down more often. In my previous set up I had 2 CD sources so could pre-load the next disc…

Figuring out where to put the budget seems more complex than 25 years ago

Now I am really confused, I don’t want to conflate two issues, but I am going to go and look at the happy/not happy thread about the update,…
