nVi remote dead or need of reset?

Hello everyone
my Naim nVi remote suddenly stopped working out of the blue.
I changed the batteries, tried the Open+Subt+1 reset. But nothing is happening.

When checking with my mobile phone’s camera I cannot see the IR doibg anything either.

Does anybody know if maybe that is a common behavior if the remote is unpaired or if maybe the battery ran low and the remote then needs a different reset? Or is the hardware really dead?

I still have an AV2 remote to keep me going but I cannot switch input with it so I am a bit stuck (because I regularly have to circle through inputs or the nVi won’t lock onto the audio signal of my TV).

Thank you for your help
Alex

Have you tried a reset of the remote handset? This usually does the trick.

There are two remote codes used for the n-Vi (AV and DVD), so you’ll need to perform this operation twice using the supplied remote:

Press the white AV (or, DVD) button

Press and hold both OPEN and SUBT buttons. Then press the numeric 1 key.

The n-Vi display should flash a message to this effect.

(with thanks to Dave Dever).

Hello Richard,
thank you for your response. As I mentioned above, that was the first thing I tried, repeatedly.

I wanted to check out some older posts but they have all disappeared. There used to be a FAQ for AV2/nVi, it seems. Did that have the same recommendations?

P.S.: My nVi display has faded away.I think there was some major issue with those. I was on the second one and that did not last long either. Luckily, I do not need it too urgently.

There’s another reset that can be done.

The FAQ post can be found here on the old forum archive;
