I thought TOOL sounded great on everything, just like Dire Straits.![]()
You should swear, not promise. Just kidding.![]()
Not if it’s too polite, it loses the menace.
That’s why the combination of Naim and Neat is ideal for almost any music.![]()
So true. Not only that, the amp will also sound different with each speaker placement configuration even though it’s the same room.
As a result, the impressions you read about an amplifier, speaker or anything else on forums don’t always work.
I’ve heard Imm 2, Lounge, 2, Trans 2.5 models of OePhi speakers. With tube and SS amps, and they are remarkable. They simply let the music flow. Tone, everything is spot on. I’ve only heard them with OePhi cables, which I own and have taken my system to the next level. Especially the power cables. It’s as if the cables are not cable upgrades, but component upgrades. As in, I didn’t know what my components were capable of or how good they could sound. This is where the upgrade itch stops. Period.
I took delivery of my Lounge 2 speakers this evening.
Going to run them for a while with the Linn cable I have already before comparing new cables, interconnects, mains leads.
Dealer will lend me a pair when I am ready.

Tony
They look lovely.
Just to add to the commentary about the Oephi Lounge 2 speakers I can confirm that they sound wonderful with Naim amps. I’ve been running them with my SN3 for a few weeks & am loving them. The shop demo used a Uniti which was also impressive.
My journey to choosing them sounds similar to the OP. I find them insightful without being dry / clinical (Audiovector, Dynaudio), engaging without being overly warm (SFaber), well controlled bass that is balanced not dominant (PMC Prophecy 1) and so so musical. They beat my old B&W 706s by a country mile in every aspect but especially the upper frequencies that are so much clearer & better controlled with the Oephis.
NB I’m not knocking any of those other speakers as we all know its what sounds right to your own ears in your own room at your own budget etc etc.
NB The black finish doesn’t do justice to the quality of the build / veneer grain matching etc. Only downside is they don’t offer grilles in the UK but I suspect I’m in the minority using grilles anyway.
I’m staggered at just how much more detail I’m hearing now (even from my years old audiolab CD player). In terms of increased musical enjoyment, the £for£ upgrade cost for these Oephi speakers has, IMO, been the best £ I’ve spent in my 40y HiFi journey so far.
I feel exactly the same. They’re transparent, I don’t even think about them, it’s just music, and it’s wonderful.
I am sure they’ll get better and better as they ‘run in’.
All the best with yours.
Tony
I am hesitating due to small room and near wall placement said not to be ideal. However it looks like yours are unless it’s just the pic angle ?
Plus Guru QM 10 sound pretty good now set up in new room.
Mine are ~20cm from the rear wall.
My experience is that they’re not fussy about placement. The dispersion is good as well which was important to me as a lot of my listening is “off axis”
Mine are also 20 - 25 cm from the rear wall. I spent a lot of time with placing, I think they are now optimal, anyway they sound good.
My room is also small and they do work.
My recommendation is that you listen to them and if you like them, try them at home.
I borrowed the salesman at Raleigh HiFi’s own pair, very nice of him, they’d only just come in, he hadn’t even had them at home yet! I was super-careful with them. ![]()
The difficult thing will be finding a local dealer as they are not as widespread as Neat, ATC, etc.
All the best,
Tony
