I think my fav one hit wonder was McFadden and Whiteheads “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now”. It did get to number 1 in the US and was a global best seller.
As a writing team though they were prolific and wrote loads of songs for other people that did chart very high.
I have bought very few singles in my life, but this was one. I also saw them live in a small venue in about 79. It sounds like you would know that Paul Roberts is/was an amazing painter.
The finest piano solo ever committed to pop vinyl.
Piano has just reminded me of ‘Sleepy Shores’ by Johnny Pearson, the theme for the TV series Owen MD in the early 1970s.
With a very young Phil Gould, later of Level 42, on drums
Well Meatloaf fashioned a whole career out of one album.
As did Mike Oldfield
Anyone remember this..?
I did see them live during their 15mins of fame and they were excellent to be fair
Not sure that Norman Greenbaum had many other hits either?
I’ll bite;
Really? My vinyl and CD collection would suggest otherwise.
