I remember you had the DCS network bridge. Something didn’t worked well?
The Nagra streamer is appealing. Curious to know how it can compare vs the Innuos Pulsar for example.
Have you tried it?
You’ll be surprised! I’ve bought two shields last year and it was the end of a lot of trouble.
I find that the Shield renders old 480p DVD rips better than just about anything. It isn’t really about upscaling at all. A lot of devices like the Fire Stick and Apple TV don’t have very strong video processing and rely on there being a lot of video information in the stream. So with newer HD formats they are quite happy. But the stream from a DVD is low bit and very lossy, it requires a lot of heavy lifting to reconstitute it to something that looks good.
The Shield completely does away with blocky regions or stepped gradations. It’s not as detailed as Blu-Ray but it’s smooth and natural. Better than my old high end Blu-Ray player did. When you watch a beloved DVD through the Shield, you never think, oh I must get this movie on Blu-Ray.
Sadly, the consensus is that the 2019 Shield will be the last one. It’s not official but no one is expecting a follow up. The good news is it’s still current and gets updates regularly.
Yes …and THANK YOU, for reasons you’ll discover as you read.
The dCS NB has been living in my near-field system, and doing sterling work.
One place I have been spending moolah is on POWER.
I bought a Ferrum Hypsos, which is a good PSU and allows you to change the power on 0.1V steps.
I then bought a Weiss PSU102 PSU, as it bettered the Hypsos with the Weiss 204.
I had been considering selling my Chord M-Scaler. But, I tried it using the PSU102 set at 12V, and ended up buying a second PSU102.
You’re right, I am ill!!
As I have been listening to a number of DACs recently I have been using the Chord 2go/2yu in my main system, as it also has a USB output.
I hadn’t listened to the NB in my main system since upgrading the main system power.
Up until now I had a slight preference for the NB, but it was music dependent. As you mentioned it I thought I’d put it back into the main system …my preference has grown!

Looking forward to trying it!
Sounds great, its on its way.
