Can Naim ND555 play these? Carmen Jones inc has just released an album in this format. I can get the album at 96/24 on Qobuz so I won’t buy if it won’t play
The ND555 can handle up to 384/32. So you can either buy the 768kHz download and convert it, or just buy the 96/24 version.
Get Carmen Jones from Sound Liaison (.com), they are the original Carmen Jones recording studio.
They offer lots of formats, PCM, FLAC, DSD and various sample and bit rates.
Be interesting to know how much difference you think there is between the versions. I have to admit I often struggle to hear a real advantage in 24/192 over 24/96. In fact I sometimes think the 192Khz version sounds less natural.

The diff between 192 & 96/24 has been discussed a few times.
Personally I struggle to hear anything.
I do hear a clear diff between 16 & 24 bit rates, and 44/24 & 192/24.
Getting back to Sound Liaison, they specialise in DSD, record in DXD with single mic methods where the recording is with all the musicians recorded ‘live’.
This is followed by minimal post recording processes.

So, ND555 will play DSD files. What about DXD 352-24?
DXD is used for post processing DSD originated digital recordings.
DXD is another name for 24 and 32bit 352.8k PCM and such DXD labled files are normally sold in a FLAC container
ND555 can play very high sample and bit rates such as 32/384kHz WAV,
and 24/384kHz FLAC, AIFF & ALAC, so it should play DXD 24bit if in FLAC or 32bit in WAV
