I’d be curious to compare my PH7 with a PH5 or a PH10… I also have P8 and ND7.
Are the Cyrus Signature and Classic Phono basically the same product?
I need to buy additional phono for my third turntable and I’ve been thinking used Vertere one but the Cyrus does look good as well. Could it be better than my Superline + HiCap DR combo?
The Cyrus Signature with PS is very good. It is compatible with Naim amplification and is much better than my Stageline. I think the Superline w Supercap is significantly better but much more expensive. Never heard it with a HiCap however.
I have the phono-1 which, after some experimentation, I preferred to my superline powered by my then 52. I never tried the superline with a separate power supply, which is a shame, but unfortunately I didn’t have the shelf space. In my experience to get the most out of the phono-1, and it did make a big difference, you need to follow the loading guidelines supplied with the unit. These are little unusual and lead to relatively high loading values for both capacitance and resistance. I’m currently running a hana ml with 270ohms (hana recommended >100ohms) with 0.8microF.]
Cyrus went back since it was broken on delivery (new)
I’ll have to find a used one then or look into Vertere Phono-1 maybe..
Thanks! I’m having Vertere as my first option and since I’m not in hurry to buy anything, I’m looking for good deal on used ones.

The Vertere Phono-1 (especially MkII/MkII L) generally offers a more lively, detailed, upfront, and rhythmically engaging sound with excellent timing and dynamic drive, excelling at making music fun and cohesive, while Cyrus (like the Phono Signature or 40 PPA) often provide a smooth, refined, balanced delivery, perhaps slightly less aggressive but highly resolving and stable in imaging, with the Cyrus 40 PPA showing significant gains with its outboard PSU for authority, making the Vertere great for excitement and Cyrus for classic refinement, depending on your system’s balance and sonic preference.
I’ll probably wait for my bonuses on next Spring before buying anything. I’m also eager to buy a Supercap for Superline but let’s see what will happen.
But I let you be the first! And then wait for your feedback!
Hi Blackbird,
another good sounding a flexible phono stage is the Audio Analogue AAPhono. It comes in a shoebox case, like the Cyrus. Maybe you can find it in your country.
I’ve just learned that the latest version of Cyrus Phono is the Classic version. Signature was ended like 2024? The latest doesn’t have the signature batch on the front. So it was the Classic I had at home which unfortunately was broken. Seems to be very minor differences between them though.
@drago Is the german store “Auditorium” a trusty seller?
Is a big company with several stores located in Germany. Only bought a remote there.
Thanks! Cannot decide if I should give Cyrus ago one more time or if I should look for alternatives like PH-10 or Vertere.. I was very disappointed getting a new unit with the knob almost falling off. Strange thing is they put the knob inside the foam protection. I can imagine if someone drop the box that the foam will apply lots of force onto the knob.
@Blackbird: Would that be Auditorium from Hamm?
Their webpage if so since I’m located in Sweden. They have retail in Hamm, Munster and Hamburg.
Then it’s the one I was thinking about. The company originates from Hamm and added a second store in Münster several years ago. I forgot about the store in Hamburg. Auditorium have been in a Network with my Naim dealer for several years, but I have never done business with them.
(from 1997)
Yes but it you want the PS on it too then its 5000 EUR and then you’re up on Rega Aura level.
Was the knob falling of with your Cyrus phono? I would hesitate also - go for Vertere!
I have recently been in the Hamburg store. Main store is in hamm. The do a lot online business
Hört sich gut an - they are very good!
