For sure one can debate the role of class in his work and his take on it. The foundation stuff he did is pretty cool if not without issues too.
What an interesting thread! One of my things for 2026 is improve my photography. I do enjoy every aspect of taking a picture but would like to improve my technical expertise and composition skills. My wife got me a book on composition (Composition:52 Assignments by Antony Zacharias) for my birthday and Iām slowly working through it. Been in a bit of a rut lately just concentrating on bird photography but want to stretch a bit and dig in to Macro and try a bit of street photography, although that makes me a bit nervous. I do enjoy visiting National Trust properties as they present quite a few photo challenges.
Iāve now amassed enough gear and would like to put it to better use.

Iām not really sure what you mean, what aspect of his work do you object to?
His work was criticised by some for āpunching downā at the working class. Eg the last resort and other colour documentary work.
Thanks for your reply; Iād say Parrās attitude towards the upper classes was just as critical, if not more so. I think he was simply interested in human foibles in general, without being judgemental.
