Sorry @Martinzero, Manu Delago is a musician and the album is Parasol Peak, give it a listen, it’s different on a good way, him and his fellow musicians up a mountain with a storm brewing, he is a Pan player and I am making it sound complete garbage but nothing could be further from the truth.

It’s one of my favourite albums for just losing yourself in the atmosphere of the performance.

I was listening to the vinyl release, which is lovely.

I recognize the issue of the disappearing artist or track, but I still warmly recommend Qobuz for streaming. To my ears, they sound nicer than Tidal, they pay the artists a fair price, and best of all: they’re not in America. The initial quirks with streams dropping when using Qobuz Connect seem to have been ironed out as well.

It was a very entertaining game and that’s from a Liverpool fan.

If you find vinyl to give better sound quality than digital, surely that is an advantage.

Like so many things in life, this is ultimately a matter of priorities. Over time, the convenience of a digital solution, its negligible spatial footprint, and the significantly lower costs of operation and media have come to matter more to me than superior sound quality. This was not always the case, but it has steadily grown in importance for me.

I’m just the same it’s called “growing old”!

Power cut for some outside work this am. So

Not quite the room filling sound of the rig it’s sitting on but still impressive. Just a battery and the internet. Thank you Mr Berners Lee. Did you ever think a whois command and a modem would develop in to this, I wonder.

I know his brother well.

He works at the University I have worked at for many years.

Which brother?

Are you more of a loud listener or a quiet listener? I’m asking because most people I know who own very powerful speakers actually prefer listening quietly. I’m just curious.

During my thankfully short-lived Klipsch phase, I was definitely a loud listener. Sometimes so loud that the dishes were rattling in the kitchen next door. It’s a miracle I wasn’t arrested back then.

My girlfriend will say I listen loud. I play loud from time to time. But most of the time we can speak normally to each other in the living room (where the music system lives) when we play music.

Worked with the other brother, Peter, for a few years, really nice guy.

Ridiculously talented family.

These super clever people are great. When I was doing my PhD at Leicester in the 80s there was a genetics guy a couple of rooms along from me in the basement, who did clever stuff with chromosomes and electron microscopes. One day he was very excited and said come and look at this. He was Alec Jeffreys and he’d just nailed the genetic sequencing thing. Top man.

Some years ago I attended a public lecture by Alec Jeffrey’s…brilliant chap, fascinating subject and very approachable.
