Running CDS3 as my ‘reserve’ at the moment. Other than an iffy puck which has issues with some CDs it is playing very nicely. Just had word from the factory that the CD555 has been repaired so the comparison back should be interesting.

Fancied a change, so, egged on by Mrs BN I flipped the room around 180 degrees.
I was concerned the SQ might suffer in the new orientation (ceiling slopes down to 1.5m at the listening position), but still sounding great.
50Kg ATCs took a bit of moving 
Cabling needs sorted out and I should get a better 5m Ethernet cable (currently a very cheap and nasty one !).
Main thing is that the dog seems happy with the layout.

Rather than spending money on a 5m Ethernet cable, I’d first try a simple switch such as a Netgear GS105E with a decent low-noise PSU, for example an iFi iPower X, placed between the router and the streamer. Then use a good-quality Ethernet cable for the final connection to the streamer. This creates a new network hop and can help reduce some of the noise coming from the rest of the network. In my experience, that often brings a greater improvement replacing the cable from router to steamer.
Thanks for the suggestion Carlo. I have a GS108e next to the router in the plant room downstairs. This feeds hard wired CAT6e cabling to most of the rooms in the house (including this one). In the previous layout the data point in the room was right behind the NSC222, so only a short cable was required.
I ran a long cheap cable (I already had) for a while to the new position and tbh it sounded fine.
As an experiment, I’ve been running the NSC222 wireless for a few days now and it sounds just great !
