Popping Issue with SPDIF?

I have an Aurender N10 streamer and Weiss 204 DAC. When I connect using the digital coax SPDIF I hear periodic popping sounds in the left channel of the DAC. When I use USB the popping goes away.

Does this point to:

  • A clocking issue in my streamer?
  • A bad SPDIF output port in my streamer?
  • A bad SPDIF input port on my DAC?

It could be a poor contact. Is one (or both) of the s/pdif connections using an RCA socket and plug? They can crackle and pop if a poor match or poor contact, although why only the left I’m not sure, it should affect both channels.

Are you the same guy complaining as few weeks back? If not there seem to be an issue with this Weiss product IMO.

That’s me. I don’t think it’s an issue with the Weiss. It’s an amazing DAC and appears to be very well designed and made.

I believe this issue has been resolved and was related to the SPDIF status bit needing to be reset via the Aurender app.
