For travel I have a Sony NW-WM1ZM2 and Campfire Audio Solaris in ear headphones - great sound quality, albeit the Sony unit really is a bit of a brick particularly in relation to weight!

Hello @BertBird thank you, i did consider that DAP route, but like to travel light and want to keep everything on my mobile.
Before considering mega high end DAP, i would consider something i mentioned in the thread below. It keeps your music on the go lightweight, single device (your mobile), just bypass the Android codecs (not sure it works on IOS). I went with Snapdragon chipset compatible devices (BT USB and TWS Buds) to make use of my mobile Snapdragon chipset.
The result, not earth shattering, but for us golden ear audiophiles (or audiofools) i find it very worthwhile.
