Possible damage to ND555 suspension?

If you look at this photo closely, you will see a holed bored in the brass plate and within the hole, a dowel which presumably is connected to the base.

So even without the transit screws, the lateral movement of the brass plate is restricted to the clearance between the dowel and hole. Which is obviously good design.

If the dealer delivered the unit in his Maserati pulling 5G at every corner the PCB/Brass Plate/Springs aren’t going to move very far.

It is very easy to think and feel the worst has happened with expensive items, but in this case from descriptions it sounds like it survived the transport OK. Probably if the box was being hurled about in transit then all bolts being in tight and secure a good idea, but otherwise if moderately handled with just enough bolts in to prevent movement it probably ended-up doing the same job.

When you occasionally move these items with suspended sub-chassis without bolts at all - which you have to do to place them in the rack - they make a light jingle sound of the spring assembly flexing and that is normal. That said, without the bolts I am careful, but with any one bolt in place it is locked-solid and safe IMO.
