Power amp for DAC-V1 and Dali Opticon 6 Mk2

Hi all, I’m a first time poster on here, I picked up a DAC-V1 a few years ago and want a power amp to connect it to Dali Opticon 6 Mk2 Floor standing speakers.

Probably more info will be needed.

Form factor?
Budget?
Class preference?

What is the question?

Given this is the Naim forum, he wants to know do I buy a nap100/110/140/180/200/250/300 etc

Lots of other good power amps out there; quad, exposure ……

How much money do you want to spend?

The question is rather do you need more than its natural partner NAP100, do the speakers need more power than that. I’ve had DAC-V1 in the past, used it as a dac with my then SN2 and later with 82/250, out of curiosity tried it once with the 250 as a preamp and it’s not even close to the 82, really it’s not meant to be on that level either, so no surprises there. IMO buying more than a NAP100 would probably reveal the shortcomings of the V1 and disbalance the system in general.

But he also has a Naim Uniti Atom as per their prime. But where does this fit in?

DG…

Current setup: Cyrus CD7Q/PXS-R (Digital phono connect) Naim Unity Atom, Dali Opticon 6 Mk2s

The DAC-V1 sounds so good with Sennheiser HD 650s I want use it to improve my room setup.

I am assuming the DAC-V1 is a better pre-amp then the Atom which I will move to another room.

A dealer has offered Tolourium black 2 speaker cables with a 96 Hour burn-in for £158 or I might get Naim NAC A5 Black Speaker Cables, does anyone have an opinion ?

Form factor is not an issue as I can move things to accommodate, budget is dependant on expected outcome.

NAP100 for £435 on eBay is within budget and if someone says on here that I can pick up a refurbished much older Naim power amp for £900 and it’s way better then that would also be great.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Does the DAC-V1 sound best with NAP100, are they designed to work together ?

£1500

Im sure it sounds fine. Never tried my dac v1 though.

Thanks mate I’ll get a NAP100

Unless you can find a NAP140 or NAP110 within budget, in which case I would go for one of these.

Our DAC-V1 absolutely sings with a NAP140 (just had its second service, by Darran at Class A in Sheffield) and a pair of PMC DB1i speakers.

Happy listening! BF

Nap100 from tomtom circa £450 (avoids eBay) or they have plenty of 250s within your £1500 budget.
