Very expensive

Well… in the ‘slightly’ crazy category. The Furutech Pure Power 6E NCF for only € 11.850,-.

I’ve been curious and interested in this one too if anyone has experience? I might even try it at some point but what I am not so sure about are the filtration, the on/off switch and circuit protection - all of which potentially a compromise?

I believe Shunyata Venom EU7 is discontinued.

Ok, thanks - I see a Venom UK6 version at several dealers online at about £2k, looks same/similar spec otherwise?

And I see the Shunyata also lists an LED in the specs. The EU7 is discontinued but the UK and US one is still available.

That’s really expensive! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
For less than that, one can have 5 or 6 dedicated power lines with the best in terms of: power outlets, in wall cables and audio circuit brakers.

EDIT :
And even add a 20kVA balanced power supply dedicated to the HiFi

The prices are so expensive that the buyers are addicted to the hobby. The manufacturers know

I’m struggling to think of a sentence in response that doesn’t include lots of four letter words.

At that price you might as well buy a dedicated battery and use that to power the hi-fi.

Actually, is that a thing? Power the hi-fi off a genuinely independent power supply like an uninterruptible power supply? And charge it when the hi-fi is not in use?

Yes a battery supply is a thing, many people do it and I think it’s easier to do nowadays with Lithium battery back ups etc.

Maybe a bit trickier for a full Naim system though.

There’s a well known dealer in Derbyshire who has one for his demo rooms.

Crimson Elektrik springs to mind, from the 70’s.

I had a pair of their monoblocs in the early 90’s. Not bad they were but no match for the Naim I soon moved on to.

I recently got this one:

With a tick piece of wood under it and some dampening feet feet it is everything one can ever need. It is easily upgradable. O fuse in the path. With some decent power cables the results can be amazing.

It seems such an obvious thing, but it was discussed before and IIRC these points were raised among others:

  • Normal commercial inverters don’t actually create very clean AC power
  • I believe a Naim luminary was quoted as saying something like it would have to be the size of a power station to be able to compete

Just plugged a home demo Powerhaus S6 in this pm and listening tonight - replacing a Wireworld Matrix 2. Already about 2x as good for about 5x the price - I want one! That ratio aint bad - the music is something to be in awe of now. Nova Tunes 3.3 on vinyl sounds so good. Usual similies, I don’t know the first thing about what is inside it, but seems like a good value purchase if I can find a spare grand.

They had a pre-amp, that ran off two PP9 batteries. Quite ingenious really, got rid of ac problems at a stroke.

I notice that some of these power strips like (Chord’s new M6 and S6) include a high current 20Amp or 16 Amp inlet, would you be able to use this in the UK under UK regs without using a 13Amp UK socket or plug at the wall?

Pic of Furutech’s 20Amp IEC.
