Power supply upgrade. How do you know it is working?

I bought my first Naim ps, a flatcap 2x to go with a CD5x. I found there was an improvement but it wasn’t transformative, it was however the start of a slippery slope which led to running a 282 off the other half for a while. I’d auditioned a supernait and 202/200 and decided to aim higher which meant piecemeal upgrading. I bought a superline and an Aro the first two times I went shopping for a hicap before eventually buying one and I don’t think either was a wrong choice. At one point I was running a CD5x and 282 with a superline on AUX2 off that flatcap with a Rega Maia feeding the speakers. The hicap added more substance and a more relaxed sound without losing PRAT when it eventually arrived 2 years after the 282.
