Power switch on CB 160

I have a chrome bumper 160 that needs a new power switch. A previous thread identified Radiospares as being original sourcing (and as of 2023 evidently they still carried a suitable item). Does anybody know the RS model number for that illuminated switch?

Maybe contact Class A Sheffield
I don’t think the factory might have them.
Some good dealers might have a spares box.

@NeilS at the factory will hopefully be able to let you know the part number.

The original switches are no longer available, so we use equivalents now.
They are made up of three parts available from RS:
690-7033 - switch
248-5396 - lens
204-681 - LED

I’d ensure that you are sitting down before looking at the price!

Neil.

Out of curiosity, I looked.

I think a stiff drink would also be needed.

Hi Neil

Are you supplying a green lens now?

When my CB250 went back for a service at Salisbury in 2000 it came back with an orange lens which always looked odd.

Orange? Wow!

Can we have a picture please?

Neil.

Good lord, you aren’t kidding! And I will also have to pay for its passage across the pond as well.

Not the most existing post but this is the lens.

I think it must actually be an orange lamp inside but luckily this failed after a few months.

The 32.5/Hicap/250 is sensational with viny rock and the fact you can keep it singing after 40 years is wonderful.

Probably sounds better without a working lamp as well.

204-681 is shown as being 28v. Do you add a resistor to cope with the 40v rail in the CB160?

It is missing the green cap that clips over the white diffuser.

There have been quite a few iterations of switch used over the years, so finding the correct type can be tricky.

Neil.

Yes - quite a high value (3K3) to keep it subtle. They are quite bright otherwise.
