Premier League 2024-2025

It was a very high quality game of football. Very enjoyable and I can see PSG winning the whole thing. Liverpool going out could work either way for NUFC. Either they will be dispirited or they could be really looking to bounce back. Alexander-Arnold’s injury looked bad and hopefully he will
miss the final. Not sure about Konate. The extra 30 minutes certainly helps Newcastle but we will still hugely be second favourites. :black_heart::white_heart:

PSG became a team when they sold all their “star stickers”

Yes it was an exciting game between two very good teams. But Liverpool’s penalties, after Salah, were really poor. Surely they must train for such an occasion, but it certainly didn’t show last night. They should have watched Forest’s penalties against Ipswich!

Yeh, a bit heartless there, Andy…

But we understand.

I only wish there were more injuries last night. :crossed_fingers: Guilty as charged m’lud :black_heart::white_heart:

The Arsenal have drawn Real Madrid in the last eight of the Champions League hopefully reports Bukayo Saka will be back in time are true a front three of Martinelli, Nwaneri and Saka looks more capable.

Maybe their big players just had an off day last night, but RM didn’t look much to get too worried about. There’s loads of conspiracy theories about the disallowance of the Atletico penalty, but once again in the CL, RM found a way through.

Saw most of it, a good match

Unfortunately, even a cr@p RM are still formaidable in this competition. Especially when, as @SteveD gets close to suggesting, there may be sinister reasons why they get so many calls going their way.

UEFA to consider changes to penalty rule in the aftermath of the Madrid derby.

Hilarious. Would they have bothered if it was two English teams…

The proposed rule change is the wrong solution as it takes what is objective and factual and makes it subjective. Yet more complication then.

The controversial part of the Alvarez decision is whether it met the ‘clear and obvious’ test which is supposed to be a ‘high bar’ to avoid re-refereeing.

Of course no sane Gooner would think we where not the underdog here but we are not massive underdogs we are a very capable football team who on their day with apart from Kai Havertz a fully fit squad (should Saka return) can play excellent football.

Interesting England squad selection by Tuchel. Henderson??? As there will definitely be Rice and Bellingham playing, how on earth is Henderson going to fit in?
And selecting Henderson over Adam Wharton really doesn’t enthuse me. Good news for Lewis-Skelly though

Ah, but how much Dutch football do you watch? About the same as I do, probably. But I have read that Henderson’s being outstanding for Ajax.

I wonder whether the gushing by all and sundry over Wharton is justified, or if he’s just another flavour of the month.

Anyway, I’m a Scotland fan, so I have no business discussing English selection issues.

Have you seen Wharton play? It’s not gushing. Watch the recent Palace v Villa match where he completely dominated the midfield (and the match). At last year’s Euros, Gareth Southgate called him ‘the number 6 that England’s been waiting years for’. And then didn’t play him

I’ve seen him. He’s OK.

But as intimated above, I don’t really care – unless you put a kilt on him.

I’m absolutely delighted for Dan Burn, who is an all round good egg, and has been playing well recently.

However, it is his first call up at the age of 32. Surely there are younger candidates for an England squad than Big Dan (and Henderson). They are hardly the future…

A great guy and fondly remembered by all Albion fans

Is Tuchel bothered about the future? Wasn’t he hired with the explicit remit of winning the next World Cup, or something? (Heaven forbid)
