Premier League Football 25/26

It ‘s boring. You’re safe.

The Leeds fans in the stadium probably looking the more nervous. Where did those 11 minutes of added time come from??? Last 15 of extra time. Natural justice would allow these two teams a bye into the final.

Anyone wondering why we don’t win big games might understand now. First half penalty, arguably red card. No, just a normal coming together. Nmecha booked for similar but less. Clear penalty second half, ref tried not to give it. 11 minutes of extra time. Do our best to throw it away in extra time. No one can explain the 11 minutes. 9,000 fans deserved that victory. WHU fans leaving the stadium and trying to get back in really didn’t. Cracking game for neutrals I expect. Nerve wracking for lufc fans. Winning a big game. Winning a big game on penalties. Just wow! As a side note Leeds back at Wembley has a real hollow ring to it. It’s a semi not the final. Back at Wembley means the final to me. The FA has undermined the FA cup for years but it still produces the best football as teams go toe to toe rather than playing safe. Oh, and Beckford, stop purring about the opposition. Over 120 minutes the best team won beating an established EPL side who recently won a European trophy.

As a neutral I really enjoyed the game….. easy to do when you have no skin in the game.

Nice to see ex FFC Adama with an assist. Unforgivable missed pen by Bowen. Great to see Dyer with his head in his hands. How the ref missed that pen is unreal. VAR working as it should. The ref obviously knew he had it wrong after the OFR.

Well done Leeds.

Even when it doesn’t matter we’re still the away ball

That’s probably the game most of us wanted.

Well, The Mighty Whites, (or Mighty Blues, as it turned out), were having a smashing Easter Sunday afternoon out at The London Stadium, 2-0 ahead at full time.

Then the referee decided to award 11 minutes of extra time … … … really? … … … yer ‘avin’ a bleedin’ larf, aintcha?

The Hammers played themselves back into the game, to recover to 2-2, and our Brazilian keeper, Lucas Perri, who earlier had pulled off a couple of crucial saves, had a complete brainfart moment when deciding to head a clearance, rather than doing that goalkeeper thing, catching the ball, when he was clearly inside his area. :man_shrugging: :man_shrugging:

Elsewhere, a Hammers player was ruled offside, when both of his feet were clearly planted onside on the green stuff, though his upper body was leaning into an offside position … … … it’s well past the time that we reverted to proper offside adjudicating, instead of today’s complete bollox.

In light of the above, whilst I’m very happy that we’ve made it to the semi finals, I can’t help feeling that West Ham actually ought to have been the team going through.

An easy semi-final in prospect though Dave, you’ve avoided both City…..and Saints

And they are out of the Champions League.

Bad omens abound.

Big goal off the bench from a big game player Kai Havertz!

Great result even though, from what I’ve read, it was a poor game. By contrast, I watched Real v Bayern, which was hugely entertaining. Both teams created, and missed, a hatful of chances but Bayern the better team. TAA demonstrated his strengths (crosses) and weaknesses (defending - ie his job!), and once again Vinicius Junior showed what an objectionable character he is. Even so, you write them off at your peril.

Real manager started the wrong team I think. I doubt he’ll do that again so, as you suggest, it’s definitely all to play for.

Amazing how he ghosts into spaces unnoticed by good defenders. Because I’m an old farrt, he reminds me of Martin Peters in that respect.

I think Bayern is the favorite team for the Champions League

Gulf in class in Paris tonight. Liverpool lucky PSG, especially Dembélé, didn’t have their shooting boots on otherwise the contest would have been over and done with. PSG play lovely football. It’s ok to push a player in the back apparently before he shoots. Lucky Liverpool.

Very lucky to get away with a 2-0 defeat, it could have easily been 7. But if they can score first at home it could get interesting.

Great result for Atleti tonight at the Camp Nou but Barcelona are definitely capable of coming back in the 2nd leg.

PSG vs Bayern final? They look like the best two teams left, although it’s dangerous to count out Real (unfortunately) and Barcelona.

That’s not possible they can meet in the semi final though. Arsenal are 1-0 up with a home leg left in the quarter final if we proceed we will get either Barcelona who are 2-0 down with an away leg against Atletico Madrid.

Should we proceed I would prefer Atletico we beat them 4-0 earlier in the competition we also beat Bayern 3-1 we still haven’t lost in this years Champions League with only the one draw in the away leg against Leverkuesen in the last round.

Teams mostly come to play rather than sit deep and defend as they do against us in the Premier League which suits us much better.

Great results in Europe last night for the English clubs especially Palace who look to have all but booked their place in the Europa Conference League semi final.
