And Brentford are looking forward to the Arsenal Big Boys showing up…
What a man. What a Hammer.
It looked he wanted the red card, didn’t it?
Awww, do we have to play again, so soon ?
A wet, miserable Tuesday night against an in-form Barcodes, stomping at the bit to rip into our wimpy, hapless, out-of-form, out-of-confidence prima-donnas. Luvly.
Anything less than 5-0 I will take as a positive result.

What a great night at SW6 yesterday.
Well done to City for the win but FFC will take many positives from that game.
You should have had three points wrapped up by halftime.
As for the penalty, everyone including their grannies are saying it shouldn’t have been given. However, would you be surprised to hear that this Spurs fan actually believes it was the right call ? Rodrigo had his back to the ball and was making zero attempt to play it. He was just intent on impeding Burns and stop him from getting the ball. Blocking, grabbing, man-handling him. He went too far with it.
I remember in a recent Euro or World Cup, the whole country was up in arms because Harry was constantly being hauled to the ground at corner kicks. Same thing, different reaction from pundits.
BUT. The problem is consistency from refs and VAR. If we are consistent and give the penalty against Bentancur, then we will be giving 2 or 3 penalties for this offence every single game. The offence is rife in the game.
We have a number of matches being played tonight. Let’s see how many penalties for this offence are given…………
it was one of those “ If that was anywhere else on the pitch it would be a foul”. I’m getting really sick of this wrestling for every corner and free kick into the box, it has got to stop. Refs need to get control of the game and stop this nonsense. A few penalties would soon stop it.
Anywhere else on the pitch and Gordon deliberately impeding the GK while the 4th official was more interested in Burn would have been a free kick to Spuds I reckon. Crazy penalty decision for me. What goes on at corners is now out of control. Villa played the GK trick V us. Gooners major in penalty box gamesmanship. City no better, worse their goalie feigned injury V us so Pep could run a coaching session. All of this plus crazy handball decisions, minutes wasted on millimetre offside decisions & the likes of Richarlison (just one example having seen him last night) throwing himself to the ground without punishment, is damaging the game in the top flight. Some of the top flight games on TV now are clearly bereft of atmosphere (celebrating is high risk with VAR). I think it’s all linked. The authorities need to be careful with the game.
Tonight I’ll be at ER watching Lufc as usual. Expect to lose but obviously travel in hope. Difficult though when Chelsea (like the other title contenders) will probably bring on a sub who cost more than our whole team. Will definitely be the case when we play Liverpool at the weekend.
Re. Richy. Yes, it was embarrassing.
Us Spurs fans do not want to see our players behave in such a way.
But, sadly it is the way the game is going.
The refs are either ignoring the cheating or are incompetant.
He’s far from the only one but it was blatant & embarrassing last night. His manager could stop it of course but won’t. And why would he when any number of other managers/ players are heavily invested in gamesmanship. There’s few managers who can honestly take the high ground.
I haven’t watched the penalty back yet, and sit a long way from the incident at the ground, so didn’t really see it (copyright Arsene Wenger). Right decision or not, I would still ban VAR with immediate effect. Spurs equalised in the added time caused by the lengthy VAR review. My stance on VAR hasn’t changed; ban it and teams will win some decisions and lose some. Banning VAR won’t happen though; we are too far down the track now unfortunately…
The pinnacle would be Bielsa, Farke also seems to appreciate fair play. Or to put it another way, he’s naive.
Arsenal started the game against Brentford with only Raya, Califiori, Zubimendi, Rice and Odegaard from Arteta’s ‘preferred’ first 11 the back ups played well first half and took a well deserved 1-0 lead into half time.
The second half was poor from both sides until Arteta swapped Martinelli and Madueke for Eze and Saka which improved things a little but until Ska got the second on 90 minutes it was nervy hopefully injuries to Masquera and Rice are minor and their substitutions precautionary.
Leeds leading World Champs and heroes of the 1-1 draw at home against Arsenal ‘Proppa Chelse’ 3-1 at Elland Rd but no doubt Trevor ‘Terry Butcher’ Chalobah and Cole ‘Pele/Maradona/Messi’ Palmer will pull The Chelse back into this.
Well, tonight at Elland Road, The Mighty Whites played their socks off against Chelsea, who were way up there in the league as the match began.
An early goal from Bijol, and then a screamer from Tanaka just before the interval saw us head for the dressing room 2-0 in front.
An early second half score from Chelsea raised the anxiety levels somewhat, but another from Calvert-Lewin put the match safely to bed.
Leeds?
They played some attractive football, and were happy to put in some actual tackles throughout, closing their opponents down quickly at every opportunity.
Chelsea?
Seemed to adopt the old theory that since Leeds provided the match ball, it was only fair that they return it to us regularly. Otherwise, what a bunch of entitled nonstop whingers, moaning about every decision that didn’t go in their favour.
Looking forward to The Scousers at Elland Road this Saturday.
M.O.T.
Well played Leeds. Sunderland getting a point up at Anfield kills yet another Liverpool comeback and a brilliant comeback by Villa that will be a tough game for Arsenal up at Villa Park 12.30 Saturday.
I’m not looking forward to Newcatle’s visit to Sunderland the week after next either!
