Proac tablette 10 sig defect?

Hello guys,

Got a new pair of tab 10 sig. I would like to ask those who own it - are these normal?

The edge of the cone it seems like the surface coating is not applied properly, and the copper phase plug looks like there is some pitting on the surface.

Thank you

Have you emailed the dealer/manufacturer?

Does not look normal to me and I would be contacting the dealer who sold them to me. Were they new or used when you purchased them?

Here some pics I just made of my Proac Tab 10 sig’s.

(right Tab10 sig)

If you bought them from a Proac dealer I’d sent him an email with the pics included or (if possible) drop by. You could also sent an email the manufacturer, to hear what they think of it.

Personally, I don’t think there’s much to worry, but it won’t harm to aks the dealer/manufacturer.

Thanks for the responses, I have emailed proac technical support. I will update you guys when i get a response. My pair was brand new.

My observations: It seems like the application of the doping material was not aligned properly, as the other side not shown has more of the doping material that goes onto the surround, whereas the side I showed barely goes onto the rubber surround. The slight misalignment probably resulted in the doping material having poor adhesion at where the surround meets the cone.

I’ve never looked closely,
they make such good music that I think I’d rather not know.

Mine were immaculate. I’d ask for replacements myself. It would always niggle otherwise.

Update: Proac replied. They told me to contact my dealer. No other information on whether this was considered defective or not.

I have emailed my dealer for a 1-1 exchange as it is under a week.

I can also confirm my Sigs are perfect, apart from the odd bit of dust :slightly_smiling_face:

Apologies for the crap mobile photos

Looks great! When you go close to the copper phase plug with a torchlight, can you see very small black spots that are about as thin as a human hair?

I don’tsee any black spots, could be my eyes though.

This is the best I can take using a touch focused on the phase plug, hope this helps

Hifiman seeing as you have SBLs with SJ paxo as I do I’m curious how the Proac 10s sound in comparison. Only asking as I’ve moved and have a smaller room than before and May look to reluctantly change.

Although I’m on my third pair of Tabs the SJ-SBL is in another league. The Tabs have an excellent top end / mid range but dont come close on scale, depth and musical presence.

A few months ago for a bit of a laugh, I connected the Tabs to the main rig 552DR/500DR with DAVE as source to see how they perform. Okay, a massive grin at first and they did sound excellent but after a few days the return of the SBL was a huge welcome.

Hopefully this week my ATC SCM 20 PSLT should arrive, fingers crossed :crossed_fingers: These will replace the SBLs, I fancied a change with modern drivers, sealed box design….. plus I like the look of the 20 classic design.

The SBLs will go into the smaller room connected to the N50. Tabs back in their boxes, but I will hold onto them.

May I ask what is this SJ-SBL you mentioned? Is it a modification of the SBL? In a very space constrained room, how do the tab 10 compare to other larger sealed speakers like sbl?

I’m wondering this myself. Pretty sure it’s not South Jersey South Shore Baseball League

Apologies, SJ (Sean Jacobs). Myself and PuddleSplasher have the Sean Jacobs SBL PXOs

Excellent!

Hey @GraemeH , out of curiousity, why did you change out your tab 10 signatures? Are the PMCs better in every way or do the tab 10s do better in certain areas?
