Puritan Ultimate with NCF Furutech connectors

Has anyone tried the Puritan Ultimate with Furutech NCF (R) connectors?

I currently have the Furutech DPS 4.1 cable with the NCF connectors but it is so unwieldy due to the stiffness. The Puritan’s floppyness would be a breath of fresh air but I don’t want to lose too much of the SQ of the Furutech DPS.

Experiences welcome!

I have Puritan 156 on full 500DR system as my 552 and 500DRPSs were noisy.

So got the Puritan 156. Problem gone. Then changed from standard cable to Ultimate cable between 156 and wall socket. It has standard plug and inlet. Not interested in changing it tbh. It does the job and is recommended between the 156 into wall socket as it has specific inlet connector C19.

The cable was a big improvement on the standard one which isn’t cheap.

I paid about £600 for the new mains cable.

I have mainly powerlines and a few chord purples on system. Naim powerlines on all Naim stuff.

Cabling of all kinds is a complete rabbit hole and I tend to stick with fairly standard stuff. I have dabbled. I have an HB Labs powerline with furutech plug and inlet and it’s an absolute behemoth and impossible to manage on most kit!

I have tried the ultimate on mine but the Furutech DPS 4.1 with the NCF connectors was quite a bit better than the Ultimate. I wonder now how how the ultimate would sound with the NCF connectors. MCRU sells this version as one of their best cables they say. So they must agree that the NCF connectors bring something special to the table over the standard connectors.

In my opinion these things bring sometimes small differences in themselves, especially with just one cable in the system being Puritan Ultimate.

Go for it! I have full 500DR system and yes there was a difference between standard and ultimate.

If you get the whole lot done. Bit like full powerline loom and full Super Lumina loom, yes the difference may be marked.

Only you will be able to tell by doing it. I think that full powerline made a difference and full super lumina made a difference.

If you go full puritan ultimate with furutech inlets and plugs I am sure it will make a difference.

To be honest the cables look a bit weird. I have only one and it’s really wide and soft.

It does what I want it to do but I have no itention of going full loom with them. That’s my experience. I used it to solve a problem. Rather than my preference if that makes sense.

I had DC hum on my new full statement system :scream:
Using a chord 6way block…

Swapped to my puritan 156 all quiet (and I mean black quiet) sounds great!

I’m glad it did the trick. I think it’s very good and the sound is still as it should be with 156.

Many doubters on here including Naim who don’t recommend mains conditioners.

I picked the 156 up because I had the same problems with the 300 series I had before.
Puritan do a full refund policy if you’re not happy, so no risk really

I think it’s well engineered, does the job and have had it quite a few months. I don’t feel that’s it affects the sound, if anything it makes it better as it takes away noise.

I think the other side would claim it can take away too much noise and sound clinical. I kind of get that as 500DRPS sounded more dynamic direct through mains.

But transformer hum is not what I want so all Naim goes into Puritan 156. It work well at current time.

Glad it works well with Statement Amps too! :muscle:
