QNAP NAS server AND Naim app

Hi all,
I need to play music from my QNAP NAS server via the Naim app
but I don’t view the server QNAP in the list of Servers in Naim app.
In the past all worked fine.
Someone can help me and explain if I have to install something on the qnap server to solve the problem ?

francesco

You need upnp software to make it work. Asset is excellent and is what I’d get. It’s made by the same people as dbpoweramp.

As HH mentioned, Asset.
Asset is a one off life time purchase, easy to setup and works on old QNAPs too.
My QNAP must be >10 years now, its an old TS-459 and runs Asset.

MinimServer is another excellent uPnP server that runs on QNAP.

Getting suggestions of which UPnP server you should choose is all very well, but I think what you are asking is why you can’t see the UPnP server you were previously using, not which one you should choose?
First, you may have a discovery issue which might be resolved by restarting your router or the NAS.
If neither of these help, log into the QNAP and check that the UPnP server is turned on. It may have been disabled during a firmware update. There is such a server included on the NAS which may have been what you were using previously.
If you want improved functionality that’s another matter. Asset and Minimserver are the two popular music servers, and either of them will run on a QNAP NAS. Minimserver is particularly popular with Classical music listeners, but Asset is more user friendly. Take your pick, or stick with the bundled freebie if you’re happy with it.
