I was trying to listen to Rubycon by Tangerine Dream on Qobuz last night, but… I was only able to play the first 30 seconds of each track. I then tried Phaedra with the same unfortunate result. (This was less of a problem as I have Phaedra on cd.)
On further investigation this morning I tried using the Qobuz app (rather than the Naim app). This turned up a larger selection of search results, all of which seemed to work fine.
So my question is: has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there an issue specifically with the Naim app? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a workaround for this - other than switching from Naim to Qobuz apps?
I vaguely remember experiencing this issue before with different music - but I can’t remember the details.
Hi Robert. Thanks for replying so quickly! This doesn’t seem to be a problem for 99% of the music I play from Qobuz. Just for these two albums (and a few others that have slipped my mind!). I do find it strange that searching in the Qobuz app with exactly the same search terms returns such different results. And, of course, those results seem to play.
The other possibility is those albums, or those versions of particular albums, are not available to be played in full from qobuz; this sometimes happens with pre release, though obviously Phaedra is an old album.
I suggest finding a working version in the qobuz app, set it as a favourite, then you should be able to locate /identify it more easily from within the Naim app.
Looking at tangerine dream in the qobuz app, then all the albums, there isn’t Phaedra or rubycon listed. Are these in your favourites already? Perhaps they’ve been removed for some reason (by the label?) and you have retained access to samples via a favourite.
Phaedra 2014 appears under the list of eps.
Known but periodic issue with Qobuz. Logout of the site, app and the access via the Naim app. Log back into Qobuz via the Naim app first and then, if needed, the Qobuz app.
If an album had been removed then, if you have favourited it, it should play nothing from it at all. The 30 second thing is an anomaly yet to be resolved for every user because it is so periodic.
I have had the 30s thing with favourited albums. When i contacted qobuz i was told that that version had been removed by the artist ( likely as qobuz were not paying enough).
Rather irritating.
I tried rebooting the app - AND rebooting the Nova, all to no avail. It’s not a huge deal - I can get to the music in other ways. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.
As a side note - one of the first things to pop up when I opened YouTube this morning - Tangerine Dream - Rubycon (remastered)!! Big Brother is always watching!
