Qobuz Connect - device selection default

Apologies as I am sure this will have been asked on here before, but I haven’t been able to find an answer . . .

I subscribe to Qobuz, accessing Qobuz Connect on my iPhone, which shows a ‘selected device’ menu listing the eligible devices I can listen to Qobuz on. It always defaults to my iPhone so I have to manually select the NDX2 whenever I want to listen to the streamer. Is there a way to change the default device so it can stay on NDX2 as the default device? I always have to change this before listening. Its not exactly a problem, but it would be good to override the default iPhone choice.

Thanks

Possibly leave Qobuz Connect running in background……

Just a thought.

This will be a Qobuz app function, so you should contact them if you have any requests. This issue was raised during the Qobuz Connect beta, so you won’t be the first to request it.

The Tidal app is much the same. It also switches back to selecting my phone even when playing on my streamer! Very annoying .

Thanks for the replies. As I thought.
It makes sense that this sits with Qobuz as opposed to Naim.

Or possibly it sits with Apple, I suspect it could be a current iOS limitation/feature/bug. It seems to be the functionality across a range of iOS apps.

It is exactly the same on Android. Another annoying thing is that my ND5XS2 stops playing Quboz stream when I close the Qobuz app. That does not happen with Spotify. I guess this is also an issue in the Qobuz app.

That shouldn’t happen and doesn’t for me. Are you sure it’s really using Connect and not Airplay, or the Android equivalent?

I am sure it is using Qobuz Connect. If I remember correctly, it did not do this initially. But recently it started doing this. I will look again at the Naim app and Qobuz app settings to make sure there is nothing weird there.

Yes aa annoying but you would need a fallback method when yyou are away from your house/local network. Of course for a highres service Qubuz could make a setting that told the app always to use device x when on a wifi network. I would really like such a feature and they could just have it turned off as the default behavior.

I am not sure there is a public suggestion forum in the qobuz club or what they call there social/forum thing, but if there is we should start a thread on this one.

I checked everything again. It is absolutely using Qobuz Connect and I do n’t see any setting that could explain why the stream stops playing when I close the Qobuz app, but it does. Strange…

Interesting - possibly an issue with some common library somewhere then.

I did create the request on the qobuz club. The name suggest this is hifi not music related, but I am a bit in doubt seeing the link. You will have to subscribe for the club to back this.

One other thing. If you start a track playing via Qobuz Connect and then open the Naim control app, is it also playing in the Naim app? What happens in the Naim app if you then close the Qobuz app?

It’s not an issue. Who wouldn’t want qobuz to stop streaming when the app is closed.

The issue is with Spotify, I’d like it to stop streaming when the app is closed.

Well, the Qobuz app is a bit of a battery drainer. I normally start an album or playlist and than close the app. But that’s not possible now.

If I start a track from the Quboz app, it also shows in the Naim app. If I close the Qobuz app, the tracks shows as paused in the Naim app. If I click play in the Naim app, it continues where it stopped when I closed the Qobuz app.

I’m out of ideas, sorry. I would suggest it may be time to contact Naim support.
