Looks like it’s on its way.
Nice. I’m looking forward to trying this.
What leads you to believe this? They’ve been making vague promises for years, but I haven’t seen any announcements from them recently. Have I missed something?
Yes, apparently you’ve missed something. Qobuz has demoed a sneak preview earlier this year, after which they urged members of the Qobuz Club to inform the manufacturers that Qobuz was ready to work with them on developing. I have reached out to Naim, but have no idea if they took up the invitation as I heard nothing from the side of Naim.
That doesn’t mean that Naim is not working on it, but I just don’t know.
Yesterday Qobuz anounced that bèta testing was starting and they have invited members of the Qobuz Club to participate in that and to reach out again to the manufacturers. So I have reached out to Naim once again yesterday. Haven’t heard anything yet.
WiiM on the other hand is very open about it that they are working with Qobuz and are inviting their customers to participate in bèta testing, as @Blackbird already mentioned.
I must say that I’m very tempted to get a Wiim to feed the Dac of my SuperNait 1.
I’m a Qobuz Club user - non VIP, relevant as they have access to roadmap - and read nothing else in the site outside the WiiM announcement shared.
Looking forward to it, for Naim and Cambridge Audio.
Auralic also mentioned that they are ready and waiting with a firmware update for Qobuz Connect when it’s officially released.
It was adressed in the VIP space indeed. But my personal guess is that after the initial selection of testers from the VIP members, the option will become available for non VIP members as well.
I have the Mini and Ultra. Very pleased with both. I use their room correction abilities for headphone use and am now trying it for my speakers. Not bad.
Tidal Connect or whatever → WiiM Ultra opt out (correction appled) → Nova opt in
What benefit will this bring that searching/playing in the Naim app won’t?
Will a connect app be separate to the Qobuz app or does it just enable a protocol from the Qobuz app to make a Naim/other streamer play without using Airplay/Chomecast etc?
I’ve never understood what advantage these “Connect” things bring to a Naim streamer, you just access Tidal and Qobuz direct from the Naim app, which seems the best way to do it?
Much better UI in the streaming native apps. Mixes, artist radio, AI suggestions. Naim app is like an 80s Walkman in comparison. But some like Walkman.
I agree, to an extent…
But like I posted in another thread re ‘searching’ Qobuz within the Naim App, it’s definitely somewhat rudimentary through the Naim App in comparison to flicking around the Qobuz App….But, the convenience of doing within the single Naim App is obviously compelling….Whether Naim improves its UI remains to be seen, but a ‘Connect’ App which then operates the streamer direct might be a ideal compromise until such time, if ever….
Compare some quick screen grabs just now, looking at todays releases on Qobuz –
Qobuz App:
Naim App – No detail of Resolution, No Artist Other Album, No Suggested Album, Limited Info/Description…

Third party apps (in this case the Naim app) never provide all options that are available in the native streamer app (in this case Qobuz).
I for one am not very happy the way Qobuz is integrated in the Naim app.
Searching is one of them, but the library in the Qobuz app is something that I really like. It’s your own ‘library’ that you have gathered through the years in Qobuz, and in which you can apply filters depending on what you want to look for in the library that you want to play. Also, the magazine provides nice articles from time to time, which are fun to read.
One can report missing content in the catalogue, which can help it grow. And there are more options in the settings, but these are things that one uses only a few times.
Last and important to me, I cannot get used to the user interface in the Naim app. I think it’s not efficient, and (less important) it looks outdated.
Yes!
Yes, I guess both options with Qobuz have irritations. I find the Qobuz app a bit annoying for searching, as it lists tracks before artists and albums. The library feature works well on an iPad, but I find it not so good on an iPhone - I’m not sure why - need to look again at that. Your Qobuz library stuff actually sits at the bottom of your uPnP favourites, which took me a while to notice.
I sense Naim want their app kept reasonably simple, but there are a few features that could work better.
I still don’t know what Connect does to all of this though, how is it different than using the Qobuz app? You can already connect to the streamer through the Qobuz app, what am I missing here?
But that isn’t direct feed into the streamer though, is it…? Least that’s how I understand it…
Yes, you can send from the Qobuz App to your streamer, but you’re effectively ‘casting’ from your phone/iPad……Turn your phone off or it’s WiFi, and the stream will stop……?

Hmm, I thought Chromecast acted as a remote control spending the stream direct from the router to the streamer. I could be entirely wrong. Whereas Airplay takes the stream through the device and sends it wirelessly to the streamer.
You can’t control the Naim streamer without wifi either.
