Qobuz family

My daughter is off to Uni in London next week so I was going to upgrade my Qobuz account to “family” but it states all members must live at the same address.

Not sure how they police this but that said my user case can’t be that unique can it?

Any words of wisdom?

Gary

Many students keep the family home as their official postal address for the purpose of bank accounts etc. That provides evidence that it’s a genuine family member should it be requested.
I’d be very surprised if Qobuz would object. They don’t normally stop you from using a streaming sub at different addresses.

That’s one reason it’s never appealed to me, though we already have Apple Music Family which is probably more aligned with my daughter’s listening.

It’s a potential problem with many of our streaming services, especially Netflix who throw wobblies about ‘account sharing’ when you use a different IP address, but no concerns when you’re not using all the ’seats’ you’ve paid for!

I’m wondering whether or not to keep my Sublime account - no monthly payment option as far as I can tell, and I’m getting increasing errors browsing lately with it telling me ‘no proxies or VPN’ - probably as I use iCloud Private Relay. I also hate having to do the ‘Recaptcha’ image things when I have a subscription.

Don’t extend your Qobuz account.

I would tell her that she is going to study, not idle away her time (& your money?) listening to music.

I have never had children…

Does she actually need hires access?
A Spotify student subscription is £5.99 a month; you just need to prove it which will probably be via a uni email address.
Apple Music also £5.99

Look on unidays or “student beans” for other offers/discounts.

Indeed, whilst we share a football team I’m not sure that’s sound advice for family harmony!

No she doesn’t need high quality, that maybe a way forward.

+1 for this one:

My 2 kids are all about Spotify and like to share playlists with friends a lot. But maybe it’s different in other regions of the world.

I found Spotify easiest one for family and casual listening. (Songs availability, control with all the different devices. In my mind Spotify connect is the easiest and best one if no hi-res is needed)

For my personal listening sessions I’m still debating for Tidal and Quobuz. But that’s another story.

I have used Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, Apple music.
All have pros and cons, but the young generation shall not benefit from Qobuz as they simply do not have the appeal. I’ve seen plenty of cases where songs were on Spotify and Apple Music but not on Qobuz.
