Youâll only be able to listen to things that you have actually downloaded to your phone prior to boarding. Everything else requires internet access.
Thanks HH
I discovered recently on a train journey my music hadnât downloaded. After digging around I found Qobuz only downloads while the iPhone is awake, as soon as the screen goes black it pauses the download. So make sure they are actually on your device by turning on Airplane mode and check.
Some airlines/planes/routes offer wifi with internet connection,a paid service (maybe included in First class or Business class), though I donât know how continuous a connection - but I would have thought simple to check with the airline.
Yes, downloads into the Qobuz app are quite slow so you need to check on progress and make sure it happens. Another option if you have any regular downloads or CD rips is to put copies onto your phone and play them using iTunes, VLC, HF Player or similar.
foobar2000 works well for me on an iphone with my owned music. Only slight inconvenience is having to copy the files to the phone using iTunes.
There are other much less awkward tools, e.g. media monkey
I have made no purchases on Qobuz. I do not use CD rips.
All I have is my âlibraryâ of favorite albums, playlists, and the infinite choices provided by Qobuz on the app. Will I be able to listen to all of these options?
When I turned on airplane mode on my ipad my usual choices are all there.
So am I good if no wifi or internet or do I have to have use of either wifi (hopefully free) or internet.
Also when I am on the beach (travelling tomorrow) will I be able to access the music as well or will I need wifi?
My phone, unlike my ipad uses cellular service so I suspect I should be able to use the iphone for Qobuz on the beach even if there is no wifi signalâŚright?
Thanks all
David
If you are streaming online fromQobuz you need an internet connection, whether via wifi or a 4G/5G phone data link from your device or a nearby hotspot. So no on a plane unless the plane has internet via wifi, usually a paid service, and no on a beach unless either close to a wifi hotspot or your device has a simcard and mobile data service for the location (and within range of a mobile phone mast (or another, linked device does). Or a satellite phone.
Yes, the whole point of free downloads within the Qobuz app (other streaming services offer this too) is to allow you to listen to music when you have no internet connection. The only limitation is the time it takes to download them, so keep an eye on progress in the app. I sometimes find that the download process stalls and needs to be restarted.
I have a streaming plan, Qobuz offers downloads to listen without an internet connection but you must download the playlist or album. When no internet the album still appears but it will try to stream from the internet. If you go to an album youâll see a little download button to the right. You can see which albums/playlists are local to your phone by going to your library and scrolling to âdownloadsâ.
I wouldnât be too worried about playing Qobuz on an airplane right now. Arriving in one piece would be my only concern.![]()
Will use cell phone on beachâŚ..
I believe I now understand
Thanks
Living in NY I very much agreeâŚ..assume u are aware of LaGuardia airport incident?
Yes, it was a Canadian plane, where I live.
Not to mention all the long lines and missiles to avoid, depending on where you are flying to.
Caribbean island
Should be safe ![]()
Have fun, as long as itâs not Cuba thoughâŚwhat a world we currently live in.![]()
I refer you to my first reply. If you want to listen with no internet access you must download music to your phone. You do this by touching the down arrow. You donât have to pay for this music.
Whilst obviously not Qobuz, I download 4 or 5 hours of Radio Paradise usually Main mix to my phone or iPad and use NC headphones
This usually keeps me going for full flight and I find it interesting enough.
Very easy and convenient, quality good enough too.
A no hassle solution IMHO
