Qobuz through the Naim app is pants

@GerryMcG
Firstly are you comparing like with like ? I am talking about the Naim app, and I don’t know what ‘Asset server’ is.
Secondly, the image you have shown is not the list of Swim Deep albums. You can see that Swim Deep is in the list as an artist. So it is a list of something else - maybe a list of all hits for Swim Deep in the database ?

With Qobuz search, you swim deep into the darkness.
Very often I have to use google to find an album I want in Qobuz, instead of Qobuz search.

I am using the Naim App and Asset is a server resident on my NAS. From the previous screen I click artist to give:

I am not familiar with Deep Swim and now see that there is only one of their albums showing.

I have been using Qobuz through the Naim app with my iPhone and iPad since it was introducted in the US and have had no problems with finding musicians albums/songs and playing the music. Storing and playing favorites by artists and albums and building play lists is pretty easy.

It does everything that I need and yearly subscription price is a bonus.

Ok I don’t know anything about Asset. I am using the Naim app on my phone and also on my tablet - both give the same results I report. The screen you are showing lists the Swim Deep content including a list of 8 albums. However there is a ‘more >’ prompt to the right of where it says albums, have you clicked that to see how many are shown then ?
Anyway - others on this thread have agreed that the Naim app shows 38 Swim Deep albums.

Likewise. No issues over the years.

I agree that all required content is returned in the Naim app. It is not ‘unusable’. ALl I am saying is that searching for albums in the Qobuz app gives a more focussed list on just the albums, whereas searching for albums in the Naim app returns a LOT more than just the albums - it seems to include singles, EPs and a lot of stuff other than simply the artist’s albums, That is fine, great even if you are looking for everything there is. But if you are looking for just the albums it is harder to see what of the results returned by the Naim app are in fact the albums.
It’s no big deal, just an observation that I find the Qobuz app better.

@Will99

I hope you eventually find what you need to be happy with your search criteria.

When I type in an artist name, for example ‘Tord Gustavsen’ it returns all his albums and songs from his albums as well as appearances on other musicians albums and individual songs.

If I put two artist names in the search such as Tord Gustavsen and Skruk it displays the albums and tracks where both artists appear.

For my needs I find the Naim search to be quite adequate.

No doubt there are other search engines that may be better but in today’s world finding one vendor to meet all our needs is going to be a challenge.

I was just going to suggest this! It is yet another subscription but a great alternative to accessing streaming services via the Naim app in my opinion.

I don’t have any suggestion other than UPnP streaming as an alternative but as a result of this post I have discovered a new band so thanks for that :grinning:

:grinning: You are welcome ! :grinning:

I just checked the BluOS app that I use with my Bluesound Node Icon. Exact same problem. Also 38 results. It is most likely a limitation of the API provided by Qobuz and not an issue in the Naim app. The Naim app can’t do much more than what the API supports. Probably a lack of meta-data in the search results. I hope ‘Qobuz Connect’ will be available soon…

@Will99 - it’s probably worth your time trialling both Tidal and Roon. If nothing else it would give a (slightly) more complete picture of the different possibilities. If it all proves too much of a faff - at least you know for sure!

Try #Swim Deep as this filters out some stuff

I think the issue is with Quboz, if you go to the web page for the download store it list Swim Deep as having 40 albums…

Hi there . I have been using Qobuz and Roon for about 4 months now. Out works brilliantly well on iPhone and iPad but I can’t find it on IOS for my Mac Air . What tips do you have or what have you found works for you ?

I’m not sure I understand your question about “find it on IOS for my Mac Air.” Are you trying to install the iOS Roon app on your MacBook Air? That’s not what I do on mine.

On both my MacBook Air M2 and my Mac Mini M4 I use the macOS Roon desktop app I downloaded directly from the Roon website. If you go to there, you can get it by selecting “Resources->Download” from the top level menu on their home page.

I understand the complaint made. I too do not want to see EPs and singles listed under albums. I too would like the albums to be listed chronologically rather than randomly. I also note that I often find other artists covers listed in the albums section of the artists whose music they have covered. I appreciate that this is unlikely to be Naim’s fault and more likely to be caused by the way Qobuz provides the data. That said, Qobuz connect should ‘cure’ the ‘problems’ and, if so, I would use it rather than the Naim app.
I would sincerely hope that once Qobuz connect is ready, Naim become an early adopter.

Well, I guess it depends on what you mean by early adopters and on wether or not Naim is transparent on the matter of testing the feature.
WiiM, HEOS, Auralic are quite transparent on the matter. I told Qobuz I’d be happy to test with Naim but from the side of Qobuz I did not get the message that I could test my ND5 XS 2. But that doesn’t mean Naim isn’t testing. I am not in Naim beta group, so I cannot determine wether or not the Connect feature is being tested…
There have been some signals that Naim has not been (or didn’t seem interested) very proactive on the feature, but on the other hand @Richard.Dane has commented on various threads that Naim had legal obligations towards third parties such as streaming services where it comes to software updates. That could mean nothing where it comes to Oobuz Connect but it could also mean that Naim is obliged to get it integrated as soon as available.

Time will tell, but testing results of the Connect feature seem promising as I understand on the Qobuz Club.

As a test, I’ve just searched for Swim Deep on Qobuz via the Linn App. Comes up with 38 albums scrolling left to right. If you press more, it puts the 38 albums into two columns.

Only added for interest and comparison.
