Erudite motoring journalist Quentin Willson passed away yesterday, at the age of 68.
Shame, always seemed like a great guy.
Good journo. Good character. Terrible dancer.
Not sure you can draw such a conclusion. My Sister in Law currently aged 55 had lung cancer and never smoked a cigarette in her life. Was lucky to survive…

RIP Quentin Willson.
Peter
What conclusion?
Debs, I merely meant that for many cases of this awful disease they seem unable to define what caused it, hence me saying that I’m not sure they can ever identify a cause/conclusion - cause would have been a better choice of word than conclusion.
Hope that’s OK.
Brg,

One of my colleagues had part of his lung removed courtesy of the NHS.
In his early 40s and one of the good guys, we wished him all the best.
He survived as good as can be expected, and enthusiastically refrained from smoking weed for the following three months.
Yeah, just for three months unfortunately ![]()
Probably pointless to speculate with why Quentin died of lung cancer, but i do wonder if car fumes may have played a part. Cars of the 60s and 70s are notoriously smokey, and heavy on the lead.
In later life he became an advocate for EVs…
It’s very sad. No age really and I loved his presentation and driving skills.
RIP Mr. Willson.
I remember him for his presentation style and for his enthusiasms for cars that I came to know and love, first, early Golf GTis, then E30 BMWs.
RIP
Out of respect for the deceased I have made some edits to this thread and removed some of the comments that, after some research, don’t seem to be well or at least fully substantiated.
This kind of thread is really for members to pay their respects. If members wish to do otherwise, then best say nothing on such a thread, I feel. Thank you.
