The ‘collared’ / ‘shouldered’ DIN inputs offer so much more support than their un-lipped forbears. I had mine upgraded on the 32.5, although tbh, I do have the rings screwed down tightly.

Sorry my previous ‘conclusion’ was deleted.

The latest finding:

  1. Without earthing the tonearm overall sounds brighter, and some low ends information isn’t audible=lower SQ due to interference and static. Once it is earthed everything is just right.
    My experiment is in-line with old forum.

  2. Aside from safety, I personally prefer to the sound of lock up as the wholeness of song is important for analog playback, and the flow actually isn’t quite affected, different from the case of Lavender cables.

To get the best sound from the LP12,disconnect the CDS Lavender cable from the Nac 52.

I thought a Naimed LP12 and prefix would solve this but in the end you are right – they can’t live together as long as the tonearm is earthed…

As I recall I used to push the red record Mute and then Aux followed by the top left Mono four times, to lock the record section.

Yes from the 52 manual.
It is possible to lock the record controls and prevent accidental de-selection during recording. Record-lock is switched on or off by depressing the source mono button four times within six seconds.
